I heard this was the best place to eat breakfast, so thought we would try it with family. The locals suggested and bragged about how great the food was, so we went on Friday 1130am. We had a 20+ minute wait which was fine since we knew the food would be really good. When the waitress walked up to the table, we received no smile, good morning, nothing, that should’ve been the first sign or red flag something was wrong. I ordered a waffle, eggs, bacon, biscuit, home fries and my husband ordered the oyster scramble. First, the presentation was really great and professional looking. The food was decent, nothing that I could not fix at home. If I wanted to cook, I would’ve stayed home. The food didn’t have much flavor but was still good (decent). One of the main issues was the service and the temperature of the food, which is partly due to the terrible waitress we had. I had asked for a water and my husband an unsweet tea. We received our drinks but didn’t get anything else for 20-25 minutes. Once the food arrived, we couldn’t eat it because we had NO silverware. The waitress came back after 4-5 minutes later and I asked her for a refill for both of us, silverware, extra napkins (as we didn’t have any) & the extra butter (which I had previously asked for when I ordered). She rolled her eyes and said, “I hear you ma’am!” I’m not sure what sort of service this is called, but it isn’t something I should be forced to pay 18% tip. We received the silverware another 5 minutes later (total of 10 minutes). Once that was dropped off (only the silverware), I asked for the other items, she said, “Again, I heard you ma’am.” She proceeded to take a few orders instead of getting the other items I had asked about. A few minutes later she brought the butter, “to go cups” with our refills (I assume that meant that was all she was bringing), and no extra napkins. My food/waffle was so cold that the butter had no chance of melting whatsoever and it took another few minutes just to receive the syrup, as it was not brought out either. I won’t be back whatsoever. My husband said the same. It was so bad and the fact we were FORCED to pay the 18% tip, I wanted to write a review. I don’t even like adding this comment, but I will; I felt like we were treated differently because of our race, as people of color at least received a smile from her. I don’t know about the other treatment of them, but at least a smile. I know the reviews are mixed, and so you take your life into your own hands when you go to this restaurant. We were visitors to this place and the first time. It was so bad that the entire family in Memphis now knows the treatment and are going to share it to their friends and family. Do not go unless you want to go somewhere like Dick’s Last Resort with decent breakfast and cold food.
Nothing spectacular, actually, it was pretty awful. Save your money and keep the 18% tip...
Read moreFor whatever reason, this location pops up on Google with two separate profiles for the same location. One which calls it the East Memphis location, and the other that just says Memphis. Needless to say, I had a less than ideal first experience at this establishment. Please believe the reviews! The service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress never introduced herself & was whispering the entire time. Like seriously, not just talking low, she was whispering. At the time we went only the bar area was open to guests, which could only accommodate maybe 15 people max. There weren’t any obnoxiously loud guests, she was just whispering. She took our orders after having to ask her politely to speak up a few times. In the meantime, there were cooks eating on the line over the food they were preparing, spills all over the floor near the bar area, and random coffee just laid out on the countertops on top of towels without anyone picking it up. When our waitress brought out the food, she looked at my sister & said “I forgot your screwdriver, why didn’t you remind me” well first off, if you had been more personable, it probably would have made it a little easier to bring it to your attention, however, she technically only came over three times- once when we ordered, second time to bring the drink, third time to bring the ticket. No check ups to see if our food was ok or anything. To make matters worse, my sister provided her with her card to cash us out. She handed the card & receipt to another guest. Thankfully, my sister was able to flag another server down & retrieve it. Definitely could have been an honest mistake, but given the lackadaisical service we’d received up to that point, we wanted to call this out to the shift manager. I kid you not, two employees had to get him before he even came over to hear the issue. When he did finally come over, he didn’t even present an opportunity for us to provide him with feedback before he started going in about them doing the best they can. Now I understand taking up for your employees, don’t get me wrong, but you never even let me share the issues I had before you started to try to wave off the problem. Let me be very clear, we’d already paid our ticket and we ate the food so we weren’t looking for anything in return, but we wanted to ensure management was aware there’s a gap here with regards to customer service. There was a nice gentleman working the line who provided great service to us although not our server. We tipped him on the way out. I live in Nashville & have visited their location plenty of times with no issues, however, this one has left a terrible taste in my mouth. Please think long & hard before you...
Read moreWe have been here before and stopped coming a few months ago because service was a bit “off”. We came back today and service was TERRIBLE. When we arrived the front host was confused on seating, however, the place was not packed. Another host came over and sat us quickly. The front desk/ bar person was busy socializing with a male guest the whole time we were sitting at our table. This is important as we go through this review. Once we were seated we ordered and the food came out first and it was cold. My wife’s eggs were over done as well as the steak. My eggs were refrigerator cold the toast tased like it was toasted hours ago on someone else’s plate. We ate some because we were both hungry and drove all this way to eat. Halfway through our poverty meal we still did not have drinks despite the bar server having nothing to do. She was fiddling around pretending to work but she did absolutely NOTHING. She pretended to move napkins, paper, moving a cup from one side of the bar to the other. I watched her pretend to work while ignoring the request for drinks. Trash was on the ground behind the counter and she picked up one piece of the trash put it in a very full bin of dirty dishes. She then kicked it with her foot to hide it behind the counter. This is telling of how dirty she is in her own life. Next to the register was a tray of several tables’ dirty cups that she ignored several times. It was there before we arrived. I had to ask the waiter for our drinks three times and he said he is waiting on “her”. Pointing the same chick who doesn’t so her job. Yes, The girl who was doing nothing at the front bar. The manager was there and didn’t do ANYTHING about his staff member’s carelessness. I watched him too. He needs serious restaurant leadership training. This place lacks leadership cleanliness and management. The filter to a refrigerator was on the floor along with trash. The “fresh squeezed juice” is just juice poured from a manufacturer’s juice into a plastic container. The Irish coffee drink was made with premade coffee mix that was sitting in a plastic container. This place needs to be shut down, fire everyone including the manager, and start over. The young server woman with the locks was the only person with sense and was kind enough to apologize yet none of this was her fault! Probably look into her as a manager or something. Just anything but what is there now. We WILL NEVER...
