Crab Island Seafood — Restaurant in Memphis

I'm new to the area and wanted to take my daughter out for crab as it's one of our favorite foods. I googled several restaurants and this one seemed to have the best reviews. So we were excited as we set out. I'll start by saying that the food was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the service and atmosphere was very disappointing. While nice, the girl at the counter who took our order seemed like it was the first time she had ever waited on anyone. We were not given any utensils without asking, including after she brought some silverware I had to ask again for crab tools. Since it's a crab place you would think that would automatically be brought. The food was absolutely delicious as I said but it was brought on one large platter with no plates for anyone. I had to ask for those and they didn't come until we were about 3/4 the way through the meal. The entire place was sticky. Everything from the floor to the high chair to the tables. They also got our order slightly mixed up but at least were very nice when we asked them to fix the side dish that they forgot. I never complain at restaurants and didn't complain that visit. Of course I didn't really have anyone to complain to as she was the only person I saw other than one other girl who came out to help bring the food. Several people walked in and waited at the counter to order and left because the girl had disappeared into the back and didn't come out for quite some time. We took a leap of faith based on all the good reviews, now I only wish we would have done it sooner! Classic “hole in the wall” with great eats, great service, and great conversation; our entire family enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We had a good mix and didn’t have a thing we didn’t like- from the fried fish and shrimp to the crab and shrimp boil- the sauces and the dry seasoning were DELCIOUS! Truly some of the best flavor I’ve had on seafood; we were all practically licking the plates (that garlic butter 🤤) & even bought some seasoning for home. A lot of us split The Little Island between 2 which was perfect (but even better after adding a piece of fried fish). Prices were reasonable and worth it. Always a great experience when visiting this Crab Island location. The owner and all of the staff are very attentive and prompt to customers needs. I dined inside and the restaurant was very clean and inviting, they also give you the option of dining on their patio. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELECTABLE and comes out piping hot in a timely fashion. I would also like to give Kudos to the owner and the staff because they went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience and always checked on me to ensure that all my needs were meet.
