Huey's Midtown has continuously let me down this last year in quality of service, food, and atmosphere.
My latest Midtown Huey's horror story: my girlfriend and I ordered what I consider a simple Huey's order; two potato soups (one with no green onions), an order of sweet potato fries, an order of fried pickles, and a bluff city burger. The atmosphere in the location was odd, it was around 9:30pm and the lights looked all the way cranked up, little to no music playing, and no more than 5 customers in the whole building; in a bar in Midtown this is a little odd. Our food took abnormally long for its simplicity with less than 5 other individual customers in the location total. When the sweet potato fries and fried pickles came out they were absolutely dripping in oil, as if the fryer basket wasn't knocked at all after cooking. I asked our server to remake them and she did but only after attempting to convince us it was likely an unavoidable amount of oil due to the time of day during service - they still came out overly greasy the 2nd time. Additionally, the Chipotle ranch that traditionally came with the fried appetizers was entirely different and disgusting; it tasted like an entire bottle of liquid smoke was dumped into it and it was also slightly sour - definitely not a fan of this change. They did accommodate our request of no green onions in/on 1 of the bowls of potato soup, but in their place we found bits of egg, pieces of wilted lettuce, & cubes of tomato. When this was brought to our server's attention she once again made excuses for why these foreign objects were found in our soup - stating that the salad station is next to the soup in the kitchen [1. There should be no excuses for this & 2. That clearly indicates kitchen staff is not fully covering any of the prepped food in the back in between orders/serving.] It was just under an hour before my burger entree came out, by that point I asked for boxes to get out of there asap. After I asked I attempted to hand the server cash for the ticket, but she blatantly ignored me and walked away from the table. it took an exorbitant amount of time for her to return with the check. [On top of ALL of this, we WERE her ONLY table she was helping at that point in the night; the 2 other tables were in another waitress's section].
Edit: The official Hueys account or the manager initially responded but appears to have blocked me as the response does not show up to me anywhere but my email. Extremely...
Read moreHey y’all. I believe I just had the best burger ever!
My daughter wanted to visit Graceland for her 16th birthday. So I did what any good dad would do. Packed up the car and drove her to Memphis from Weatherford, TX!
After our Graceland visit and a quick view from the observation deck at the Bass Pro pyramid, we were looking for a good burger joint. We decided on Huey’s in midtown. We were not disappointed!
We walked into a dive with great atmosphere. Lots of old signs and some older neon lights are on display. Our server, Reese, brought her A-game this evening.
Reese recommended a new local craft beer called Fool’s Gold. A local lager which was fantastic.
My daughter decided on the Huey burger and I decided on the Philly steak n cheese with mushrooms. We shared a basket of waffle fries.
Her burger was 6 oz of perfectly medium flamed broiled juicy and tender deliciousness!
My Philly was nothing short of on point! Moist and tender. The mushrooms made this sandwich!
The waffle fries were crispy, hot and delicious with a side of aioli.
I travel for work and have eaten twice my weight in burgers. I have to say this burger is the best I’ve had!
Reese brought my daughter Rock Slide for dessert. Reese was super thoughtful by placing a kitted.
I’m hoping to get an assignment in Memphis so I can come back!
If y’all ever find yourselves in Memphis, give Huey’s in midtown a try. I promise you will not be disappointed!
Best burger...
Read moreFirst off, want to give a shoutout to Jonathan, he made this not such a brutal experience. 8 people, me included, came in around 8:30. I know that you usually “seat yourself” at Huey’s, but I wanted to make sure we had a place to sit. I told the hostess we had 8 people. She says “okay give me a minute.” So as we are standing there I see the hostess and a waiter talking. The hostess says “they have 8 people.” The waiter responds, “what did you tell them?” The hostess said, “i don’t know, I’m gonna tell them to go to McDonald’s or something.” Keep in mind there is literally 3 open tables right in from of them. The AUDACITY. One to say that where customers can hear it, but also we are paying customers that are about to spend $200+. So Jonathan, shoutout to him again gets us taken care of at a table. The hostess just stares at us the whole time. We see her talking to, I am assuming the manager, and then she begins to stare as well. Just rude, that’s the simplest way to put it. Is our money not good enough? It’s not like we had a party of 100 people. Food was mid as it could be. I have been to almost to every other Huey’s in the area. I usually have great service and great food. This location, that was...
