Maciel's Tortas & tacos (Midtown) — Restaurant in Memphis

The friendly cashiers, warm color interiors, and flavorful smell from the kitchen combine to make Maciel’s in midtown a pleasant experience. I had the veggie tacos and they were good filling size with veggies beans and rice. The beans and rice were underwhelming with the rice being clumpy and both needing a little more flavor. I think the chips would benefit from a little more salt but that’s just a personal preference. The real star (or stars) of this meal were the salsas! They are worthy of slurping out the cup (or ramekin) with a perfect blend of salt, tomato, onion, and pepper. The guacamole is also a winner as it is a fresh combination of diced avacados, tomatoes, onion, and the right pinch of salt to carry the flavors to the savory end zone for the touchdown. This was the most pleasant and refreshing experience I have had at a restaurant in awhile. Not only was the food good, but the service was excellent! They were very attentive for a counter service restaurant. There was a man at the other table that got up from his table to fill his drink and the next thing you know an employee was at his side asking if they could help him do it. There were also many other events that showed they really cared about their customers experience. I would highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be going back. I ordered delivery from Grubhub for my first try as saw had good ratings. Wasn't bad but not the best either. The beans were very watery. Had to toss all the different sauces they sent in cups as too hot, wished there was a way to avoid the waste! Appreciate that they followed instructions and left off jalapeños and cut hubby's burrito in half. Everything was good but spicy tho but not too bad.
