TACOS Y MARISCOS MÉXICO EXPRESS#2 — Restaurant in Memphis

Do not go here--it is not worth the hassle.  The food is mostly good, and the chicken tacos are the best in town.  But I will never return here because they are the most dishonest restaurant in Memphis.  I always leave there feeling fleeced.

Yesterday I went after 4 years of not going (I had grown so tired of their scummy behavior.)  I ordered 3 chicken tacos and 1 asada taco, and clearly the menu said $2.50 for chicken and $3 for asada.  I ordered 3 sopes, clearly marked as $3 each.  When they brought the check, all these items were charged at $4 each.  The waitress, as is always the case here, tried to spin everything as if they had done nothing wrong.  After much polite but firm pleading on my part, she came back and said there was nothing she could do to rectify the situation except to take off the automatically added 15% tip.  This means that she took a mere $5 off the bill, when I had in fact been overcharged by $12.

They also do something very dishonest by charging $1 for each water.  I knew of this trick they love to pull, so I very clearly asked for water from the faucet, not bottled.  The waitress never so much as hinted that the water would be charged.  99% of restaurants do not charge for tap water, so they are showing their true colors by not only charging, but being sneaky about it.  That is this restaurant in a nutshell.

Also, I got a "normal" size cheese dip, which turned out to be just a very small salsa dish.  It was $5 on the menu (already very expensive for the size), but predictably, when they brought the check, the charge to me was $6.

I have never been to a restaurant that so consistently cheats the customer, and even when confronted politely, they refuse to correct their fraudulent behavior.  The last time I had been in 2021, there was a sales tax holiday (restaurant food was included in the tax holiday.)  They charged me sales tax anway (the first and only restaurant that did this to me during that tax holiday), and when confronted, pulled the exact same antics, claiming there was nothing they could/would do.

Also, at lunch hour, they were blasting the high-pitched pseudo-polka music at nightclub-level noises, complete with big speakers.  There was no peace at all and nowhere in the building was free of the...

The food is extremely good and expensive the service was ok we ate inside which was very hot on one side and cool on the other side weird and we were sitting on the Hot side ‼️ Then they just kept staring at us which was rude like we were spectacles‼️ Then either it was the owner or manager came up to our table with a little girl trying to get us to buy something else that was also expensive after I just spent 70.00 in here just a few minutes ago ‼️ do you really think I need to buy anything else NO I don’t‼️ while I’m eating with my family this man and this little girl approached our table while we were eating I thought he was about to give us something nice for coming into this lonely restaurant which only had 3 customers inside then what he wanted us to buy was some homemade cake and pies 1 of them were 10.00 and the other one was 15.00 so I had to tell the man no we’re good on that I just spent 70.00 in here on food he said in Spanish ok and went on to the next person sitting at a table with the little girl like she gone make a difference from people still gone say NO ‼️ I didn’t like that...

I was really excited to try this place out but unfortunately I’m guessing they are not African American Friendly as when myself and my family walked in the young ladies that work there rolled their eyes as I asked should we can we sit anywhere first red flag second red flag was when we where giving dirty menus with incorrect prices what was the point in giving me a menu in the first place oh and the menu disgusting with Covid being spread this definitely and be up to Covid standards last red flag the waitress didn’t bring the bill had to get up and ask for it she tried to tell me the bill price without giving me my bill rolled her eyes as if I was wrong for asking food was horrible service horrible definitely won’t...
