We stopped by this place around 8 a.m. on a Sunday for breakfast. They’re open only from 7 to 10 a.m. in the morning before closing and reopening later in the day. It was a slightly rainy morning by the river, which made the whole atmosphere feel cozy, calm, and laid-back. Parking was easy — we found a spot right in front and walked straight in. The restaurant wasn’t empty but not crowded either — just the perfect morning buzz. We started with coffee — I ordered a regular coffee with cream, which they kindly refilled later, and one of us ordered a latte that oddly came with foam on top, more like a cappuccino. For food, two of us went with the American breakfast, while the others ordered the Cajun omelette. The American breakfast was tasty but came in surprisingly small portions — we joked that it was served “European-portion.” The scrambled eggs (supposedly two eggs) seemed less than that, and the house fries, though delicious, were given in a small quantity. The toast was fine, served with jam, butter, and preserves. I had bacon, which was good, and my friend chose sausage links, which he enjoyed. The Cajun omelettes were hit or miss — one was served hot and flavorful, while the other was closer to room temperature, which left us unsure if it had cooled before serving.

Our waiter took well over 30 minutes to greet us. I had to ask the host to get our server and she admitted that she forgot about us. We ordered our meal and when she returned she didn’t bring out the order correctly (was missing items). When we asked, she never come back with corrected order. She didn’t check up on us once for over an hour and when she arrived she had our checks in hand. During that hour we had to sit with literally swarms of flies around us (we were outside) due to the dishes sitting in front of us. After giving her our cards she held on to them for another 25 minutes. The manager happened to stop by and when I spoke up about some of the issues she immediately shot me down and was not kind. I’ve enjoyed this restaurant in the past due to its convenience and efficiency but i have NEVER been treated so poorly. What could have been a 30-40 minute quick meal turned into a 2 hour dinner that didn’t even satisfy us. Photo attached for the guests that joined us for the 2hour duration.

This has been my favorite restaurant since I was a child and it has definitely had its ups/downs in the last years. The quality of the food has improved quite a bit but the cleanliness of this place needs to be altered dramatically. The constant flies along with the dirty windows and odd smell is just bothersome. Please fix this issue because hygiene is such a key component for a restaurant. UPDATE 2023: So, the food itself is still very wonderful but the hygiene component of this restaurant is extremely lacking. As you can see, there’s tons amount of dust lingering from the lights. Floors are still very dirty and utensils had to be changed three times. The manager at this place is extremely hardworking and mindful of his guests. So, it is not an issue with that kind man at all. However, I think it is his employees that are just being lazy and not working at a bare minimum effort. Please clean up this place because it is truly such a delicious restaurant.

Okay visit but nothing that really stood out. Another st. Jude parent reccomended this place. Went on a week night with my son and my dad. There were other families there eating in the main dining area on the right side but for some reason we were taken to the bar side on the left. Besides all the adults drinking at the bar we were the only ones seated at a table. Definitely odd decision with a child in tow and we weren't getting any adult beverages either. Got to hear foul language from bar patrons throughout the entirety of our meal. Restaurant doesn’t have control on what ppl say, but not sitting us in that area would have made that not an issue at all. Hope management reads this and trains their hosts to not seat families with young kids on bar side. Food was okay. Wednesday is their shrimp deal. 1 lb of shrimp for under 20. No side is included though. You can choose either fried, boiled or 50/50. Son's chicken tenders were decent off the kids menu. My dad's burger was good but he said not worth 17 dollars. I ordered sweet potato fries and they were super soggy when they arrived to the table and not the best. I also order the wed. Shrimp deal all bread. Shrimp weren't bad.

Service: waitress was nice, but did make a mistake that delayed my meal. I ordered all fried shrimp and she told the cook it was 50/50. She came out 30 minutes after she had taken our order and relayed that she accidently told the cook wrong and he was having to ook another batch of shrimp for my plate so there would be a 15 minute delay on that. She then went and got the rest of my parties food. By the time my shrimp came out and my fries my family was already a good way through their meal. Half my shrimp were hot right from the fryer the other half were already cool from having sat. My fries as mentioned above were soggy. Wish she would have brought my fries out instead of holding them, maybe they would have been better.

When looking at the bill I noticed she charged my son's drink as a full drink. His kids meal was suppose to include a drink in the meal price. At that point, we just wanted to go and didn't want to have to argue bout 3 dollars and some cents. But as I have read in other reviews, check your bill before you...

Miss this restaurant. Gumbo was awful. Told the waiter it was bad and he responded "It depends on who's in the kitchen!" Who has time for that kind of gamble?? He asked what I wanted instead and ordered $14 wings...literally received 7 wing pieces. Pieces. And just as dry as could be!! I could've bought a family pack of whole wings for that price and cooked at home. My son's meal was cold (fish and chips) and even the waiter said he wouldn't eat the cold slaw - warned us it was awful. My daughter's cheese pizza was just as awful! I've had better from the frozen section. My friend's meal was the most strange thing....salad with literally only lettuce and eggs. Hooooow is that a meal?!?! He forced himseld to eat his bowl of gumbo after attempting to doctor it up. He was just hungry. Total came to $64. For straight trash! My first and LAST time at this establishment. Also, the waiter didn't remove my gumbo. He was shaking as he served us, as he KNEW it was trash food! I felt like I was on an episode of Hell's Kitchen tonight. Was waiting on the camera crew to step out...because this was surely a prank!! I was too frustrated to ask for the manager. All in all, skip this place!! Memphis has MUCH better to offer!! Anyone in love with this spot has malfunctioning taste buds. A waste of time and money...but never again!

I forgot to add: we weren't given silverware as it was "in the dishwasher." We were offered plastic ware and throw away cups. As everyone around us received the proper napkin and silverware and GLASSES!! I asked for napkins and the waiter offered me BAR SQUARE NAPKINS. I don't know how I made it out of this establishment as peacefully as I...

So today's server, was very engaging, albeit she got our bills completely wrong.. We went there for lunch and got there before the rush. A party of 11, they wouldn't pull the tables together even though we called in advance and asked for arrangements. They said they could accommodate us. When we got there, the hostess said they couldn't pull the tables together so we end up sitting in 3 separate areas. The apps came out before the drinks, 2 of us got cocktails of which we had to return because they were horrible, flat beer. We ordered Cajun chicken sandwiches to wit there was NO Cajun flavoring at all, very bland. The gumbo was actually the best thing that came out of the kitchen and that dish came out after I had to ask for it again. We went there with such high expectations, we'd been there before and were pleased, not this time. Our family was visiting and we were doing the touristy thing, bragging about Mud Island and were drastically let down. As stated in the opening, the bills were supposed to be split and my daughter got the brunt of the charge. We ended up working the bill out ourselves afterwards. To put the nail in the coffin, the air-conditioning was not working! The waitress was wearing a portable fan around her neck. We should've been told when we called that there was a problem. I'm not pleased with our purchase of almost $400! Nothing was removed from the bill. The only reason we didn't leave was because we didn't expect it to be so bad and it was late notice to find someplace else when everyone was hungry. Very dissatisfied and...
