My family and I had dinner at Smokey Bones around 6:15 pm. We were greeted and seated at a table without much of a delay at all (less than 5 minutes). Once seated we were provided our menus and the specials were presented to us. We were introduced to our server Denzel. He was very kind, he answered our questions politely. We ordered our drinks. There was a special on drinks $2.99 for a tall beer (22 oz - Busch Light). Two of us ordered the 22 oz beer special and one of us ordered a glass of wine. We also asked for glasses of water too. The drinks were brought to us rather quickly which was most appreciated. He also brought us a small bowl with lemons for our water and he made sure we each had a straw for our waters. Upon his arrival with our drinks we each ordered the special Cheeseburger (with a cheese of the customer choice (with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles) with fries for $6.49. Denzel made sure he noted how we liked each burger cooked and what type of cheese we would like on each one. An appetizer was also ordered a Mini Mag Nachos, which was brought out first with plates, napkins, and wipes. It was delicious. It contained ample portions of tortilla chips BBQ pulled chicken, pulled pork, house-made queso, cheddar jack cheese, tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, green onions, sour cream, sweet BBQ glaze, and cilantro. Not long after my family finished the nachos the food was brought to our table by Denzel. He made sure we were careful of the hot plates and carefully placed them before each of us. He asked us if we would like anything else, before he left. The burgers were delicious (crispy buns, melted cheese, toppings were correctly placed on the burgers) and the fries were crispy and tasty. A side of mayo was placed on each plate and ketchup and mustard bottles were placed at the center of the table. Each burger was cooked correctly. Before getting our check for our table, Denzel asked if any of us would like dessert?Denzel recommended the chocolate cake. One person ordered the chocolate cake. Since the cake was so big he brought our table extra plates and spoons in case we wished to split the cake and ice cream. This was a kind gesture and he was correct. The cake and ice cream were both excellent. Before our check was presented to our table Denzel also made sure boxes were provided for any remaining food and dessert. He also thanked each of us for stopping by for dinner and wished us a great weekend. We will definitely be back to Smokey Bones (Mentor) and greatly appreciate the service Denzel gave us and the...
Read moreNormally, I like leaving great reviews, but to be honest, the experience we had at Smokey Bones was just sub par. So I want to come and share my experience. We came around 1:30-2 PM on a Sunday, and it was dead. Like no one else in the restaurant that we could see, other than staff. We figured our food would come out fast and hot, given that they were not busy, but that was not the case. Our server seemed new, not a huge deal, but didn't know the menu very well, and messed up part of my brother's order. He ordered the platter, and asked for the chicken breast as one of his items, but he got the chicken thigh. He didn't say anything to the server, since it wasn't a HUGE deal, but that was only one issue. I ordered the surf and turf with a baked potato, and the potato was luke warm at best. The potato flesh itself was not soft and fluffy, and seemed like it was a leftover potato from the day before that they microwaved. But they didn't even bother to microwave it enough to heat it through. The ribeye tasted okay, but it was thin, with a lot of fat. My husband got the Bonefire entree, and for $40, it was pitiful. He said the ribs barely had any meat on them, and the presentation of the actual food was disappointing to say the least. They say it's for 2-3 people, but there's no way. I'd expect a lot more for the money we spent. It's mostly for show. My sister in law got the brisket grilled cheese, which she enjoyed, but she got the cornbread as a side, and said one of them was kind of hard in the middle. It wasn't a horrible experience, but for as much as we all spent on food, when the restaurant was absolutely dead, it makes me wonder what the staff was doing and why our food wasn't amazing. I would like to say we got a great meal, and got our money's worth,...
Read moreOur family dined at the Smokey Bones Mentor establishment, Saturday, 3/2/2024. The restaurant was very busy; however, we did not have to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated at a booth. Due to the large party seated prior to us, we expected a longer wait time for any service. Our kiddo was quick to choose his menu options, so when our server arrived to get our drink order, we also placed our food order. I wish I got her name, because she was taking care of the large party along with us, and a few other tables from what we could see. She was very professional, extremely attentive, and polite. Another server walking by was so nice to stop and get our son another drink. The general manager, Jay was one of the hardest working employees we have ever seen. Our son took notice and asked his name, tried to tip him; however, Jay very polity refused. The food arrived promptly, was good portion size, and delicious! We found the restaurant clean, not too loud, so conversation at the table could be had at a comfortable volume. As we left we learned the staff was working short handed this evening due to some call offs. We would not have known at all. This crew did an amazing job handling a very busy Saturday evening dinner rush. Way to go GM Jay, and all the Smokey Bones Mentor location restaurant staff working this evening! We truly appreciate each one of you! Each one of you deserve a big raise...
