Today me and my manager did an escape room at this location for the first time.
When walking in the building was confusing as the lobby(?) was through a hallway where you could see all of the rooms.
Once a staff member brought us back we started. The intro videos were so heinously long that it probably would have been easier and more comprehensive to hear them from staff theirselves. As a person who works at an escape room.
When the room began we noticed it was incredibly hard to see almost anything due to how dark it was. While we were given a lamp, we often weren’t next to each other so one person was alway literally left in the dark. This is because there is absolutely no use of phones, even as flashlights, allowed. Which I very much understand but if it was a group of 10 I don’t know how anyone would be able to see anything.
The puzzles themselves were challenging and fun. However many triggers didn’t let themselves be known and the GM would have to tell us minutes after we did it that something opened. One puzzle needed the items to be in an exact spot (while being held) and if you moved even a hair it would cancel the entire interaction, in total it did that 4 times before it played out.
Many red herrings were found in the room and while I usually enjoy something to throw you off course these were consistently things in locked boxes and as such completely over shadowed the actual puzzles that we needed to do. Unfortunately due to this we lost a considerable amount of time.
In the second room, to not spoil, there was a puzzle that we believe was not meant for people as short as us. We constantly got the puzzle wrong due to not being able to see it correctly and when we asked for a hint the hint made it seem as if we were doing it wrong.
The staff was friendly and the building was clean. That being said, with the walls not hitting the ceiling and it being a combination with axe throwing, we could hear EVERYTHING. Often we could hear audio/triggers from other rooms and look around thinking we had completed something before realizing it was another room.
I would enjoy coming back to do a different experience, but at least after today I would not recommend the Wizards Chamber. I don’t blame my loss on the game, but it was an almost...
Read moreWe only did the Wizard's Chamber escape room, so this review only applies to that. I have done over 30 escape rooms across the country and the Wizard's Chamber was by far the best escape room I have done in Ohio. The guide was great, the room has very cool puzzles (and not a single 4-digit code, which is awesome!), the theme is strong and the puzzles were clever and appropriately challenging. I highly recommend doing this room for experienced players. We (team of 4) made it out with about 4 minutes left, which I think is perfect.
However, I could not give it 5 stars for two main reasons: 1) an entire puzzle was broken in the room so one of the elements was already open AND a malfunction later in the game required the guide to override the computer to bring us to the next puzzle. While these things were only small issues, it's not a 5-star experience to miss out on the room's first puzzle. And 2) the rooms don't have ceilings. This is a huge pet peeve especially in a location that is also a lively axe throwing bar playing TV and with lots of other people. The room was done so well but being able to see the warehouse ceiling and hearing Christmas movies playing while trying to "mix potions" just dampens the experience. It's too bad because the rooms were carefully decorated with great props but it was hard to stay in the theme. I want this place to become on par with excellent Escape Room venues in larger cities, and based on this room alone it definitely could be some day. Today, it was a great experience and I recommend the Wizards Chamber room! Hoping to be able to upgrade to 5 stars after...
Read moreIzzy truly shone during the escape room, becoming the cornerstone of our team's success. From the moment we stepped inside, her determination was palpable. She was like a whirlwind of energy, immediately diving into the puzzles with a laser-sharp focus. Whether it was decoding cryptic messages or piecing together obscure clues, Izzy was always one step ahead, connecting the dots in ways that left the rest of us in awe.
What stood out the most was how she maintained her composure under pressure. Even when the timer was ticking down and the tension was rising, Izzy never lost her cool. She encouraged everyone to stay focused, reminding us that we could figure it out if we just kept pushing forward. Her positive attitude was infectious, and it kept the team motivated, especially during moments when we felt stuck or frustrated.
Izzy's determination wasn't just about solving the puzzles; it was about ensuring that everyone contributed and felt part of the experience. She was quick to share her insights, listen to others, and integrate different perspectives into our problem-solving approach. This collaborative spirit, combined with her relentless drive, made her the linchpin of our team.
In the end, it was her persistence and strategic thinking that led us to escape just in time. Without Izzy's leadership and unwavering determination, we might not have made it out. She turned what could have been a stressful experience into an exhilarating adventure, and her efforts were nothing short...
