Thai Orchid — Restaurant in Mentor

This used to be a favorite for my family before Covid shut them down. I was happy to see them finally reopen in a new location down the street. My husband and myself stopped by to grab some takeout. We walked in and put our order and took a seat at the bar while waiting. The place looked nothing like the previous establishment. No decor, and only 2 other couples were seated. A young couple walked in and the hostess seated them at a small table directly in sunlight and next to the walkway/entry where all traffic coming in and out will have to walk by right next to them. When the young man stood up to look around for a better table, and he asks the server to move them to a table more suitable, and she looks around and says "OK, but you'll have to wait while she cleans the table up" They were only one of four tables with patrons in the entire place, and not one single table was cleared and cleaned, no exaggeration here. She seated them and took their order, and we are still waiting at bar for our meal, 2 appetizers and 1 fried rice. Finally she comes out with food, and took it to couple mentioned, which came in a good 10 minutes after we already placed our order. So we continued waiting, and during all of this, the server never walked out to clean any tables, instead, we watched her continue to walk behind bar and sip on what clearly looked like a glass of wine. I will never eat at Thai Orchid again. They have the absolute worst service I've ever seen in a restaurant in my life. Their food is great which is why I kept giving them a shot but each time it's progressively worse. There is always kids running around or a woman holding a baby while answering the phone/taking orders/seating people/ Etc. If you are ordering take out...expect to wait 40 minutes or longer for your food. If you are eating in expect to be there for 2+ hours with little to no help. This type of service doesn't change whether it's lunch time or dinner time. They really need to hire more staff and and work on their organizational skills. They should not have women holding a baby who's on the phone trying to make drinks at the same time. Very poor service and completely...

My husband and I stopped in tonight for my birthday dinner along with our 1 year old. I ordered the Pad thai with chicken and it was great! I've had Pad Thai from atleast 15 different restaurants and this is definitely in the top 3. My husband had the Pineapple Curry and he loved it as well. The Pineapple Curry only had a level 2 for spice and he said it was really spicy but super flavorful. Our waitress was super nice and very accommodating of our daughter, always smiling at her and waving to her when she came to the table, and brought some extra stuff to our table for her. Only downside was the carpet is visibly very dirty and the whole restaurant could very obviously need a deep cleaning.... but all in all it was a great end to my birthday.
