We drove 4.5 hours to attend an evening wedding in Warfordsburg, PA. Not wanting to drive all the way home late at night, we decided to stay overnight. There were literally no accommodations in Warfordsburg. The nearest hotels, were 20-40 minutes away in Berkely Springs, WV and this place in Mercersburg, PA. We opted for Stoner's because it just looked really cool. A few rooms over an old tavern and restaurant in a historic building in a really small town just seemed much more interesting than a chain hotel/motel type of place. It was also cheaper and looked nicer.
It turned out to be a great choice. The room was nice, we rented the studio suite on the 3rd floor. It came with a sitting/TV Room and a separate bedroom with an incredibly comfortable king bed. The room and bathroom were clean, and came with plenty of towels etc.
We ate in the tavern below and had a few drinks, while enjoying some live music and chatting with a few members of the local crowd who really seem to enjoy the place. We also met Mark, the owner. I had requested an early check-in and wanted to thank him for accommodating us.
The place was great. Easy check-in and out. Good communication prior to arrival. Food and drink in the tavern was good and rather inexpensive. We also had lunch the next day at Stoner's On The Square which is another bar and restaurant across the Square and owned by the same couple. It was outstanding as well.
We liked it so much we wanted to stay an extra night but obligations at home prevented us from doing so. I will say, we plan to go back to Mercersburg just to spend a quiet, relaxing weekend at this establishment. If you are ever in or near Mercersburg, PA, don't miss the opportunity to experience this out of the way, friendly...
Read moreI stayed in the hotel and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The music in the hotel’s room was extremely loud and continued well past midnight, making it nearly impossible to get any rest. I understand that hotels often have entertainment, but the volume and late hours were excessive.
To make matters worse, the bed in my room was incredibly uncomfortable. The springs were so worn out that I could feel them poking through the mattress, leading to a very restless night.
I expected a much higher standard from a hotel of this caliber. While the staff was friendly and the location was convenient, the noise and uncomfortable bed overshadowed any positives. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements.
I would not recommend staying here unless these issues...
Read moreWe attempted to stay overnight with our baby after enjoying Whitetail ski resort and a few of the little pubs and taverns in town. The music was so loud we left and drove home. I honestly do not think they should be able to book these rooms on nights with live music. With that said, the staff was very friendly and Stoner's on the Square restaurant was delicious. At this time, I would not recommend staying in the...
