I'm typically not one to complain, as a waitress myself for many years, i understand how hard things are right now, but this place is definitely not one I would recommend. We originally came for the view, assuming "waterfall cafe" meant we may have a view of the falls, there are exactly 2 seats in the restaurant that may have a little view of the falls. The menu is extremely scarce, and they had ran out of several of the items on the already limited menu. The waitress had to ask me to repeat my drink order twice, and still brought a coffee and 2 orange juices, when we order one coffee, an orange juice and a coke. I understand they are short staffed, but the waitress was very clearly not thrilled to be there, even with the restaurant almost entirely empty. The prices were also insanely high in relation to other restaurants in the area, especially in regards to the food quality. The reviews and photos from years prior made it seem like a good choice, but listen to the more recent reviews, I'm not sure what changed so drastically, but something clearly did. Skip this restaurant, there are many others...
Read moreWithout a doubt the worst dining experience i’ve ever had. I would give zero stars if I could. Not a single waitress came to check on us and take our order. The only way we would be acknowledged is if we went up to the counter where the main waitress was sitting the entire time. We waited 40 minutes for a second round of coffee, which we never even received. You cannot get water here as their water is contaminated. After waiting an hour, we asked what the status of our food was. Apparently, they had given our food to a different customer and lost our ticket number. There were only four tables seated at this time, so I’m not sure where the confusion was. The main waitress was sitting the entire time and did not get up to check on our table once. The only person actually working was an underage girl. In summary, we could not get a second round of coffee and we never received our food. No one checked on our table, so they never would have noticed if we hadn’t gone up to the counter and asked. The worst service I have ever...
Read moreVisited the Waterfall Cafe this morning and had a very pleasant experience. We were the first ones there at around 7:45am and chose a beautiful window seat overlooking the lake and the waterfall.
I had a sausage and spinach omelette with toast and breakfast potatoes. It was very good. The bottomless coffee was as expected, nothing fancy you might get from a boutique coffee shop in NYC, and likely Folgers, but it did the trick for my morning caffeine buzz.
Our server was very polite and friendly. She sat us right away and brought the food out very quickly. We were one of three tables, it was a weekday, and the place is quite small, so there was only one server, but she did a great job.
Overall, the negative reviews seem to be from Covid understaffing issues and crowded tourism. I didn’t experience any of the negative things listed in the reviews and I will definitely be back for more cozy coffees...
