I ordered a shrimp quesadilla, without knowing the price, because it's not on the menu, but I didn't expect it to be $5 more than a steak fajitas quesadilla! $21 is a lot for a single dish, but it was very delicious with plenty of shrimp, many sautéed veggies (mushroom, green peppers, onions, etc.), and huge containers of guacamole, salsa & sour cream. I was pleasantly surprised to see a bag of corn chips and salsa, just as you'd get at the restaurant as an appetizer. Fresh & crisp! The dish was hot and ready when I arrived for pickup. Beware that they have slightly higher prices for credit cards over cash, and they charge for to-go packaging which is fair and understandable, but was a surprise as it wasn't mentioned. The restaurant has indoor & outdoor seating in season. The inside is gorgeous! See pics. After getting home, I realized that the bill I was shown was not the amount that I was charged, as it was almost $30. Another $5 more than I had expected. As it turns out, there was a mishap at the register, and allthough I was shown the correct bill, they charged me for another customer's dining check. I returned to the restaurant the following day, to sort out the situation. The woman I spoke with was very pleasant and offered me $10 cash back and surprised me with a dessert to-go for my troubles, a slice of delicious chocolate cake! I'm very pleased with how they handled this matter, and I informed her that I would definitely be returning for another meal. My recommendation is to confirm prices. If you are ordering off the menu, and double check before you make payment that you have received the...
Read moreIf you’re looking for average food at average prices and below average service, then you’ve found the perfect place. If you’re looking for much more, I’d suggest Corona Village or Fiesta Guadalajara. My first experience with our waitress: W: “Would you like to start with drinks?” Me: “I don’t see your drinks menu?” W: “We have a full bar” Me: “I don’t see a list on the menu” W: “Well what would you like?” Me: “Do you have a drinks menu?” W:”Yes...” “Would you like to see it?” It really shouldn’t be that hard to get a drinks menu! My wife ordered a michelada and the waitress didn’t even ask her what kind of beer she wanted in it. I ordered a sangria and we here from the bar “Sangria is made from orange juice, right?” The michelada was less than average as was the sangria. I ordered some enchiladas w chicken and my wife got the carne asada. Both were good, nothing “wow” but they were good. Our server hadn’t been around and we were done so as the server of the table next to us came by my wife tries to get him to stop. She says “excuse me “ 3 times and he just ignored her. A couple minutes later we heard him telling our waitress that we were needing something, so obviously he heard her. If you like Mexican food, you won’t be disappointed by the food at El Tenampa; but you won’t be blown away either. Corona Village has GREAT food with good service and Fiesta Guadalajara has GREAT service with really good food (both offer really good drinks, I recommend the sangria from Corona Village). It definitely wasn’t a huge disappointment like El Tapatio in Boise was, but definitely not the best...
Read moreWay over priced for portion size. We have our favorite mexican restaurant, but decided to give this place a try based on the rating on door dash. We ordered two different taco salads, cheese enchiladas and pork enchiladas, and a large chips and salsa. The total was $64. (For reference our family can eat at chapalas for under $40-so this was a lot of money!!) The size of the chips and salsa was definitely not large-compared to other local restaurants, it’s what you would be given for free in a to go order! The pork enchiladas were HUGE cubes of pork. The cheese enchiladas were actually chicken-I double checked my receipt to make sure I ordered correctly. I had the chicken taco salad and I swear it tasted like tuna fish. My daughter noticed the funky taste in the enchiladas and wouldn’t eat it. It was not good. My salad was also sitting in a few tablespoons of water so the taco shell wasn’t even edible. Neither of our taco salads came with guacamole or sour cream-or ranch-that was an add on. The side of beans and rice with the enchiladas (which at most places is a generous portion because hello! they are the cheapest thing on the menu), was for real about three tablespoons worth. It sounds like I’m exaggerating, but I’m not!! Skip this place. Keep going to the one you love the most. The extra star was because my husband liked his ground beef taco salad...
