My search for veal shanks for Osso Bucco led me to Meridian Meat & Sausage. Veal seems to be a hard to come by delicacy these days. My internet search led me to Meridian Meats and I called them to see if they could get veal shanks for me. They said they could, but they would have to be "special ordered". I told the nice lady on the phone I needed only about 3 shanks, but if I needed to I would buy 6 and freeze half. The lady told me they would be in at the end of the week. So far great...right?
When I arrived yesterday to pick up the meat low and behold an employee goes into the walk-in freezer and comes out with a medium size box, talks to another guy about pricing and then walks to the cash register. In my naivety I figure he's going to open the box and pull my 3 to 6 veal shanks and sell them to me. Imagine my surprise when he instead tells me the bill is $172 for the 13+ lbs of veal shanks! It's all or nothing and to add insult to injury Meridian Meat & Sausage does not accept credit or debit forms of payment, cash or check only. I get that but it would have been nice to have been so advised when I ordered the meat.
I did not want to start my veal shank quest all over again so I bit my lip and drained my (just stocked) wallet. To be balanced, I have not yet cooked the Osso Bucco and I'm hoping the great flavor somewhat tempers my otherwise...

I actually didn't know you were closed until I went to give you this review. Wow customer Service . We are enjoying those sausages for dinner with onion just like you prescribed . Hopefully the younger generation will bring them into the...
Read moreWe brought 2 deers in for processing. Upon each unwrapping of each meat, I am SO disappointed! First off none of the cuts are what they should be. I think they may need an anatomy class. Every steak I have opened has bones in it. The back strap has been sliced into several pieces. The cheap plastic wrap they use under the butcher paper tears and sticks to the frozen meat because it tears so easy. Do not take your wild game...
