A group of us wanted sushi and we settled on Sushi Shack as a couple people in our group had never tried it. We sat downstairs. Drinks were really good, but their fryer was broken so the only app we could order was a pretzel. It was mid at best, definitely a frozen pretzle they heat up, but it had a good portion of salt (I’m a salty b).
When we were ready to order we had to go to the register because they lost the handheld one. My sister ordered for her and husband, and because she has social anxiety she wrote down all the rolls they wanted to get on the Notes app on her phone (important for later). When they brought the sushi out, one roll was wrong and we politely told the guy who brought the food out that we didn’t order that roll. He was very nice and said he would take it back and get the right roll, no biggie. Less than a minute later the guy who took our orders brought the same rolls back out and set the plate down. My sister and her husband again said there was a roll on there that they didn’t order. This guy goes “you did order that roll” and walked away. All of us at the table were taken aback at the unnecessary rudeness. The incorrect roll wasn’t on my sisters list and no one at the table ordered it. No one ate it either.
At first there were only a few minor inconveniences: they lost the handheld device to order, fryer broken, and the fact you only get 1 menu per table so I looked on their website and the roll I ordered had an ingredient not listed on the website so I had to basically destroy the roll to get it out, but I normally give a place a couple chances. However, because of the guy who was a complete douche to my sister for no reason, we all decided we would never go back. My tummy was also not happy this morning.
This place seemed a little unorganized and unprofessional. Maybe stick to drinks and...
Read moreSushi Shack doesn't look like much from a distance in downtown Meridian. Just a sign on the corner with some visible outdoor seating. Inside is a clean, dark wooded, and comfortable restaurant.
The layout is a little strange for a restaurant, but it was nice to have option on seating location with a variety of views. We opted for turning left and selecting a table in the back.
Service here was excellent, with just the right amount of check-ins. They were polite and responsive to our needs.
The food was fantastic. We elected to have the Ika Salad to start. It was excellent. The best I've had. Subtle flavor and very cool and refreshing. For our dinner we opted for the Idaho Roll (obviously), the Heavy Metal roll, and the Islander Poke. It was the perfect amount of food for two. The rolls were delicious, but the favorite was the Islander Poke.
The presentation of the food was fantastic. Each rolls delicately prepared for maximum WOW! Here again, the Islander Poke took the victory. It looked spectacular.
We didn't try any drinks or desert on this outing. We did not use the restroom either. Therefore we have no information on those items. We will update when we return.
Return trip, we got the Ika Salad and Islander Poke, again. However, this time we tried the Mainlander Poke, Mango Dango Roll, and the S&B Roll for dessert. Everything was delicious, service was excellent again, and we cannot recommend this...
Read moreDined in yesterday for dinner around 7pm if im not mistaken. This was about my 5th time in. Food and service is always amazing, EXCEPT for last night. Food was still amazing but the service was severely lacking due to one specific server (blonde short haired lady). Had to wait about 15-20 minutes for my drink to be brought and to place my order, while the place was not even packed. My order had missing items, and when I requested those items, only one was brought back and it was not even the correct one. Never were we checked on or asked if we wanted a refill or any other items (I said when I placed the order that I will likely want to order more food later). I would have ordered both more food and drinks, had it not been so difficult to even flag her down for anything, while sitting at the bar.
I am not typically someone to complain about a servers bad night but a fellow patron who is a regular, noticed the few mistakes and started talking to me about it. Apparently this server is always like this and is not a new employee. He dreads whenever she is on staff. I am leaving this review not to get anyone in trouble or lose their job. But hopefully some better training at least. Last night's service was some of the worst I've ever experienced.
That said, so long as you don't get this specific server, service is always amazing and hence why I still give a...
