Lets start with basic information. I am 63, 7th generation Idahoan, farmer and previous professional medical worker, and a disabled senior. Life threatening disability. I havent been out to eat in 6 months. This was special to me. Yeah, I wore jeans, and my scarf head band...my Bishop Kelly T-shirt. Very interesting to go to Sunrise Cafe today Tuesday, July 11th at 12:30p. The place was almost empty. I did make mistakes.❤️🩹 ❤️🩹I asked if there was a place in which I could talk to another person or 2 that were joining me. The head waitress said I could sit anywhere. So, I chose the large booth by the bathrooms. I havent been feeling well. Then the same waitress asked if I could move to a smaller booth, just in case a large crowd came in. A large crowd before closing? ❤️🩹Ordered Ice tea, they asked me if I wanted sweetners, I said no I had brought my own...Stevia. They seemed offended. I dont eat sugar or artificial sweetners. (They charged me for 2 ice teas, when she just topped it off). My sons co-worker is diabetic. Then the waitresses were loudly discussing who was going to take table 23, one waitress said she wasnt taking table 23 then another, (look at reciept). Oh, well...they knew I had heard them. Must have been because my jaw hit the floor. The waitress were very loud with their personal conversations. I didnt want to know, didnt want to hear.... At 12:53p they seated an older couple in the booth I had wanted to sit in...with 2 more to join them, for a cup of coffee, then they left. Another waitress came over , I ordered as I was very hungry: Chicken Fried steak, hashbrowns, toast and sausage,(didn't get, not charged.)it was o.k., eggs over easy, they were sloppy. Im used to farm fresh, and not commercial, there is a taste/texture difference. Hashbrowns were good. Needed seasoning, and 1 small piece of toast cut in half. My very husky/muscular middle son showed up, with his associate. I gave him a big hug. He ordered a BLT, and his associate a omelet. The waitresses attitude improved after that. I asked about their food, they said it had no flavour. Which was true on all accounts. In the end, on the receipt their was the suggestions for tip...as I stood at the counter, one CC machine was not working correctly tried 3 times, so the used another, which went thru. I handed the rude waitress an $8.00 tip out of simple courtesy. If she had been better about her attitude and conversations I didnt want to hear. It would have been more. Their system charged me 2x. 52.74 x2 I did call my bank. What happened to this place?, I will go to the Middleton location from now on. Maybe.
July 13 Called fraud division of my bank. Told me to call the business. Called Sunrise at 1.55p, Alexis answered and I was having trouble talking. She hung up the phone. I called back and told her not to be so rude, that I couldn't talk very loud and that I wanted to speak to manager about my issue., "Alexis said there were no managers at the restaurants." Told her about the double billing issue... "Alexis said that they have been having numerous problems with their system, and they were told by the owner that the "Bank(s)" is to reimburse the customers" That is untrue. Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dining at Sunrise, and unfortunately, it was an experience I won't be eager to repeat. From start to finish, the service and food quality were beyond disappointing, and it left me questioning whether this restaurant was truly trying to provide a good experience for its customers.
To begin with, the service was exceptionally slow. We arrived at the restaurant at 7 a.m., and after being seated, it took a full 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Even then, we had to flag down a server who seemed completely uninterested in helping us. There was no greeting or explanation of the menu, and it felt like we were invisible. It wasn’t just the initial service that was bad, either—throughout the entire meal, the staff was inattentive. We waited an unreasonable amount of time to have our orders taken, and it took another 20 minutes before our drinks were brought to the table. Our server didn’t check on us once during the meal, and we had to ask another staff member for a water refill after waiting for over 15 minutes. When we finally received our food, it was lukewarm at best.
The food itself was a total letdown. I’ve had better meals at fast food chains. I ordered a chicken and waffles, and what I received was a sad, limp pile of gravy with a few dry pieces of chicken thrown on top. The chicken had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long and lacked any flavor or tenderness. The gravy , if you could call it that, was tasteless and watery. It was clear that the ingredients used were not fresh, and the entire dish felt like something thrown together without any effort or care.
One of my dining companions ordered the chicken fried steak, and it arrived overcooked and rubbery, with no seasoning or flavor to speak of. The sides were equally unimpressive: hashbrown potatoes that were bland and over cooked hard (almost as if they were from a box), and undercooked eggs that were soggy. The food was so disappointing that we couldn’t even bring ourselves to finish it, leaving much of our meals untouched.
As if the food wasn’t bad enough, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was off-putting. The place was loud and chaotic, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, contributing to a sense of disorder. The lack of attention to detail and customer care made it feel more like a fast-food chain than a full-service dining experience.
For a restaurant that markets itself as having a "great dining experience," Sunrise fails on every front. Slow and indifferent service paired with poor-quality food makes for a combination that’s hard to overlook. I had high expectations going in, but they were crushed by the reality of what was delivered. If you’re looking for a place to have a pleasant meal out, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Read moreWorst Service I've ever received!!! We ended up having to walk out after over an hour of not receiving food. Other table around us had the same compliants. The manager couldn't even account for where our order was. No apologies or anything. The hostess was rude when we put our name on the list for waiting. Then she began seating others that came in after us because the iPad broke and lost ALL the waiting list. Once we finally got seated after checking in and watching others who came in way after us get seated first it took about 15 minutes to get the high chair my sister had requested that the random server didn't want to bring because she didn't think we needed it, but we did. The manager took about another 25 minutes to get my sisters hot chocolate. All while we were waiting for our meals to come with a 5 year old kiddo who "got a headache" from waiting so long for her food because the kitchen had no idea where our order was. We had to get up to get coffee refills, from your manager. Hunt down our order which we NEVER received. The other frustrating fact is that you were serving your take outs and grub hub leaving most of the restaurant waiting for food. Not only that but tables who sat randomly after us were getting food before us while a few of us other tables were waiting forever. We had already been waiting over an HOUR with nothing... no one checked in or apologized. I know it was busy but it wasn't busy enough to be treated this horrible and have the worst customer service ever! HORRIBLE way to bring in 2020. This was a goodbye breakfast that my family so kindly got our family together before me and my spouse flew back to Denver after not seeing my family for 2.5 years and your restaurant ruined our morning and made us extremely late. We ended up not even getting breakfast before our flight. The fact that no one checked in, our order was clearly lost and NO ONE took responsibility, NO ONE apologized... We finally walked out with no food because your MANAGER WOULDN'T TELL US WHERE OUR ORDER WAS. All your people just shrugged it off just like I'm sure you'll do with this review. Horrible!
