I used to like this place but the last 3 times in a row have been a problem with them getting the orders wrong. Normally, its something I can have them fix there or its not that big of a deal, but tonight... they've surely lost a customer. I paid for a steak fajita and was given chicken. I called and asked for a refund. I paid online using their website, but was told they can't refund it for online orders, I have to come in. Now this is the problem, I moved and now live an hour away. Unfortunately, I did not discover their mostake until I got home just now. The part that upsets me is why are they taking online orders from their website if they can't manage the website? There's no phone number to call and get this resolved, just drive 2 hours out of my day to be refunded for what I did not receive. When I say the last 3 times have been an issue, that's not the only tines I've had issues, it's just a lot of issues all in a row. It doesn't make sense. The topper is they're not apologetic or anything. It's just like we can refund you in cash if you come back. That's it. So I'm done. I now have to spend time on the phone with my credit card company so they can refund it because these business owners are doing a poor job of managing the business.

La Campesina Restaurant in Fairfax is a small and cozy gem that serves exceptional authentic Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious, with flavors that transport you to the heart of Mexico and El Salvador. The restaurant's size adds to its charm, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere. What sets La Campesina apart is its fantastic service. The staff is incredibly friendly, making you feel like a valued guest from the moment you step in. The owner or manager goes above and beyond, checking on customers regularly to ensure everything is perfect. Their attention to detail and genuine care create a warm and welcoming dining experience. If you're a fan of Margaritas, you're in for a treat. La Campesina's Margaritas are nothing short of excellent. Whether you prefer them classic or with a twist, they deliver a refreshing and delightful blend that perfectly complements the flavors of the food. La Campesina has undoubtedly earned my loyalty, and I can't wait to return. It's a place where authenticity, great service, and mouthwatering dishes come together to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Tacos Catrachos! La Campensina serves delicious food with unique options, drawing on Salvador, Tex-Mex, and other cultures, such as their hella good Tacos Catrachos (Honduran Tacos). We came for their fresh margaritas other reviewers posted about… they did not disappoint, La Campensina is now our favorite spot for traditional margaritas that remind us of that time we were sipping margs in Mexico! šŸ Oh, and they have great happy hour deals on them too, 3-7pm daily! Wife loves their frozen lime & sangria frozen margarita swirl. I go for either the classic lime margarita, grande of course, or an artisanal Mezcal margarita. We also highly recommend their empanadas (chicken fried turnovers), Pollo con Tajadas (think loaded plantain fries) šŸ˜‹, and of course their Honduran Tacos. And while I’m not a papusa connoisseur… these were the best papusas I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Wait, did I mention their other entrees, like the La Primavera or any of the fajitas… seriously, everything is delicious! Oh, and super friendly service! #SupportLocal

The carne asada was pretty good here. The flavoring is delicious. It is served with yellow rice, beans and a small side salad. The pork with grilled onions was pretty tasty as well. The cheese pupusa was delicious. The margarita here was awesome served in a big margarita glass if you ask for a Grande. The Frozen margarita is also very good and pretty potent. Great frozen margarita!!!

Chicken a la crema is chicken with mushroom cream sauce on top. It was just okay in flavor. Carnitas with onions was good. Slightly on the salty side. Chicken empanadas were just okay in flavor and texture. Chicken quesadillas were really good. Cheesy and flavorful.

We came back and had New York steak strip with two shrimps on top. It was pretty good. The sopa de res is a beef soup with vegetables, potato, yuca, carrots and beef rib. It comes with two big piece of beef rib and served with either tortilla or yellow rice.

The fried fish was just okay. The fish does not seem very fresh, It was crispy but also needed to be flavored better. Hardly has much flavoring.

You can take advantage of the happy hour menu or late night menu starting at 9:00 p.m. Margarita and a large glass (grande) is $9.95! Margarita tastes pretty decent.

The fried ice cream is delicious very interesting ball of vanilla ice cream in a pastry bowl with chocolate syrup...

I wish I could give a higher rating but unfortunately not this time. The customer service was great, and the restaurant was small but clean so that’s why I gave 2 stars. But the price and food quality was not equal. We ordered shrimp and steak fajitas, a quesadilla, fresh guacamole, and queso.

I’ll start with the chips and salsa, which tells me enough about the restaurant before I even order. The chips were really thin and stale and the salsa did not seem authentic and was nothing special.

The queso was not authentic either, both it and the salsa seemed cheap and store bought. It was very thin and drippy, not satisfying at all.

The fajitas were good, but contained only 4 shrimp and was priced around $24. The refried beans seemed to come from a can.

The fresh guacamole was great, just had to add some lime juice to it and a bit of pepper.

My daughter seemed to enjoy her cheese quesadilla, so no complaints there.

Also I remember the food taking a while to come out even though there was only one other table.

Overall, I can’t say this was an authentic Mexican restaurant. I don’t think the owners would serve the same food to their families. I just moved to Falls Church and am looking for a great authentic Mexican restaurant as it’s my favorite cuisine, so I’m still looking, but I most likely won’t be returning to...
