I entered the store with two bins of clothes, a jogging stroller, and varies toys. As my husband I struggled to move these items inside we were 1. Never asked if we wanted help, told to move twice, asked to move our child. One of ladies asked if we were new sellers we replied yes and she briefly explained the process and asked for Id. As I stood there looking like an idiot holding my id waiting for someone to assist me another associate rudely said you need to sign in and pointed to a tablet on the counter. Ok signed in great now we were getting somewhere. We were asked to wait in store since we had infant equipment, I asked if they could make a decision on these items so we could go eat lunch, the women looked me in face and said nothing. Well that's ok, we walked around the store for a bit and than my husband took the kids to lunch and I waited on the items. I was standing by the counter waiting (there is no where else to wait) and was asked to move so they could move a rack. No problem I stepped to side. Next thing I know I'm hit in the back by a clothes rack. The lady laughed nervously and said sorry it has wheels. I said it's ok and tried to move myself further out of the way. I watch as they went through my things, throwing them back into the bins without any care. This doesn't make since to me because they ask clients to bring things in folded and lain flat wouldn't you return the favor the the customer? I was standing next the women when she finished my order, instead of looking at me and telling me order was ready I got a text message. I go up to one of the employees standing at the counter and was told very rudely to quote "register, there's a register and a line do you see it" Wow, at this point I am beyond frustrated. I get the "Register " and got another employee who just looks at my recipe and says ID. No please no thank you. He offers me 15 dollars for about 6 toys and 3 outfits they didn't want anything else. I asked if they were going to take the stroller and the guy said using his hands to make quations in the air that it was dirty as he smirked at me. That did it. I just wanted to leave, I told them I just wanted you items and to go. The owner came over and asked what the problem was, I explained the above and told him I just wanted my things and to go. He offered to help me take them out I said no because no one offered to help is in. He ignored me and carried one of the bins to my car for me which unlike his staff I did thank him for doing. I then message my friend that they didn't want my dirty baby items but they had items in there store that were covered in paint. She didn't believe me, so I went in and took a picture of the stroller covered in paint. The owner then accused me of taking photos of his bad equipment to post online. Why would I do that? What would I gain from posting such pictures online, I just wanted my friend to know that the store she sent me to was rude and not for me and the reason why. The owner asked me to leave and not come back. I will not go back, they are not for me. As I said friend loves them so go give them a try and see what you think. My experience resulted in a hurting back, being treated like a second class citizen and told how dirty my things are. An a note to owner no I'm not including pictures of your bad product, your...
Read moreI did an experiment to fully see for myself on the trade clothes for cash option Once upon a Child has. I bought 30 new outfits, this including top, bottom, and shoes; for boys and girls from Carter's all ranging from sizes 0-3 months. Also a new baby bike since they also have a huge toy selection. All these items ranging from 450 dollars. Now I fully knowledge nor expected to get half of the money I spent back, but for this experiment was to see if a fair price is being issued to customers for the clothes, items, special belongings families are bringing in. Arriving at Once Upon a Child at 12 the process for doing this trade was simple and smooth only taking me 5-8 minutes to be accomplished. This is where the process of the trade got a little out of hand so to say. On my receipt was written âif items are not picked up today, they would be donated and payment would be accommodated by store credit.â Now I would fully agree if the sorting and pricing time was quicker then it was. Waiting for exactly 5 hours for all items to be evaluated and priced not incorporating the time it took to drive to and from Once Upon a Child is really hard for most when this option has not turned into a all day thing. When I was told that these new items which 5 outfits where given back due to poor quality⌠so 25 new outfits tops to shoes plus a new bike were being bought from me for 23$ dollars I was in a state of in shock, this would be the equivalent of buying new baby clothes for the price of .93 cents a outfit and probably selling these outfits from a range of 8-10 dollars making close to around 180-200 dollars which is well over a 100% profit. Now I understand Once Upon a Childâs mission/duty for the community. I am fully supportive and want to make understood that without people donating and without the communityâs support families who are in need wouldnât have the help Once Upon a Child provides. This is a experiment that I wanted to share in no way is this to hurt the company but to inform parents like myself about...
Read moreOnce Upon a Child in Gilbert, Az. I had one of the worst experiences at this location. My 8 year old and I walked in, there was tons of items, clothes, toys, strollers, etc. As we browsed, we came across the toy area, I told my daughter I was going to use the ladies room. So my daughter decides she was going to look at the Barbie RV and a few of the toys that were already scattered on the floor. When I came out, I went directly to the clearance rack, which was within 15 feet of where my daughter was sitting, I overheard someone murmuring in a very low tone, as I moved closer I noticed my daughter was in a conversation with this person. I walked closer to see what was going on and a woman was standing over my daughter. She looks at me, doesn't greet me, doesn't act like she is an employee, so I figure, okay some nice old lady is just curious about a toy. This woman starts explaining which is strange, she said that kids made a mess and left out the toys. Then she went on to brusquely tell me that my daughter was going to put the RV together. At this point I have a confused look on my face, the woman condescendingly says, " I am the owner, if you don't mind your daughter is going to show me how to put the toy back together." I go on to explain the area was already a mess, and my daughter just arrived and sat down. The 'owner' sneers, quickly gathers the toys, rudely pushes into me with the items, then blurts, "Excuse me!" I do not know what she said about us in the back of the office, but a young lady comes out and begins to pick-up items, and she apologies to me. Talk about power trip. I felt I needed to share this, maybe this matters to someone, - it matters to me, my daughter and I did not deserve to be treated this way, especially someone who claims to...
