I wanted to give the Indian Oven the benefit of the doubt but something is going on here. I felt that we were treated in a biased way. I talked to the owner and she assured me that she and her staff treat everyone the same. Although, she did interrupt me while talking. The food was good but I was a little upset with the COVID-19 protocol and implementation. My daughter and I (Black women) had went to our usual place for Indian food but we did not realize that they no longer provide the dinner buffet. We googled and found the Indian Oven. We went directly because I had a taste for curry goat. Upon entering the building, we were immediately seated by a nice gentleman. He gave us water and asked if we wanted to order or if we wanted the buffet. We said the buffet. He escorted us over to the buffet and showed us that we needed to use gloves. We knew this because our other spot does the same. He then proceeded to get me a glove with his ungloved hand! I thought that was a bit over the top. I know how to follow through and get gloves. I didn’t make a big deal because .it seemed he was trying to be helpful. We got our food and ate. I noticed that two parties of two (all White people) came in afterwards. They did the similar routine as us yet when they went to the buffet no one escorted them to the buffet or told them about gloves. I called the gentleman over and told him about the first two women. He met then at buffet and told them to get gloves. They stopped serving food, got gloves and proceeded. I sat there and watched the man and woman go up there. Same thing....no gloves. I am thinking why are they not telling these people to get gloves. I am half way fuming because now I am wondering how many people have touched the buffet before us with no gloves. Next thing I see a black woman and msn come in. They seat them and remind them to get gloves. Now, I am beside myself. What the ....is going on. I call the lady over whom I later learn is the owner. I tell her my gripe. She says that they treat everyone the same. She goes over and ask people if they wore gloves. She says that there is a used glove over there. As God is my witness, I watched both of them get food with their bare hands. I just do not want anyone treating me and my daughter different. We leave and I leave my 20% tip because the rest of the service was good. Our water glasses were filled at every turn and other than the glove issue, I would have been satisfied. I loved the curry goat. The lamb was not as flavorable as our other spot but it was not horrible. These are sensitive times so I Hope in writing this review that the owners are more mindful to apply their COVID-19 protocol consistently. Honestly, I think the gentleman was acting a little biased but that’s my perception. Unfortunately, I won’t go back but perhaps next guests won’t...
Read moreWe held our company holiday party here last night. We tried India Oven a few times before we decided to book our event, and each time the food was consistently excellent and the staff was incredibly welcoming & customer service oriented.
We were very impressed, so we committed to holding our event in their smaller banquet room, which accommodated our 36 attending employees perfectly.
Upon arrival, everything was prepped and ready, including our custom menu that we curated together. Bottled water was at each place setting which was a nice touch, and staff immediately came around and took drink orders. They were attentive to our food levels through the night and kept replenishing things as necessary. They also set up a table for us to place our gifts and raffle prizes and had a very nice Bluetooth speaker so we could play music. The room was totally private and we had a wonderful time.
Our overall experience was excellent and we thank you very much for being so welcoming and going above and beyond to make our event successful, especially without having to worry about 10 page formal contracts and other things that many places put in the way, making the process long and difficult to put together. It was quick and easy with trust from both parties, the way it used to be.
You can tell that India Oven really has a passion for sharing this delicious food with everyone, and has a firm grasp on what customer...
Read moreI have eaten her a few times over the years but couldn't remember much about the place and was craving an Indian buffet and it's next to my bank so I gave it a shot. The inside of the building is very sad looking - small and dingy would best describe it. I had to use the restroom and was pointed past the bar around a corner that looked like it should only be for employees to a single person men's room with a note on the door that said "push hard please" because it was stuck. It was more what I would expect from a rest stop on the highway. The buffet itself had a good selection of curries but as someone else mentioned, they seemed watered down - not much meat and a lot of thin sauce. I tried a little of everything and the tikka masala chicken was good but I didn't care for the other five or six curries i tried. The Tandoori chicken was decent. However, it was $18.95 for lunch plus they charged me $3.25 for a diet coke so it came to $24 with tax for one person plus tip - $30 out the door for essentially some decent Tikka Masala and ok Naan bread. The service wasn't great. I wasn't sure if the host understood me and I had to flag someone down to refill my drink and to get the check. This buffet should be $9.99 including drinks - anything over that you're paying too much. Next time I will go to a better sit-down restaurant and get...
