I happened to be in Mesa today 8-17-23 helping a customer, and had not had lunch yet. Found Yoko on the map and headed there to try them out. Boy did I made the right choice!
I got there at 6pm on Thursday. There was 4-5 people inside waiting for food, and a steady flow of take out orders coming in the door. About one every 2-5 minutes. Nobody had to wait very long, most orders were made /filled, in about 5-10 minutes.
The restaurant is well lit, well ventilated ( you can feel the cool breeze from the ceiling fans ) and is spacious inside. They have small tables + chairs on one side, and 4 nice big booths on the other side.
The two people behind the counter were nice and answered all my questions. Unfortunately they did not have a list of allergens or gluten free items listed on the menu. But we figured out a couple items that should be gluten free (not breaded and not made with soy sauce). I had the large sweet and sour chicken bowl, made with GRILLED white meat chicken breast w/ veggies over white rice. And a small side of Egg Flour (Nori) soup.
It took about 10-15 minutes to get my order. Which was worth it! The chicken breast was high quality, cooked to perfection (not raw, or overcooked /black like at some restaurants) the red + green pepper chunks were warm and crunchy, and the chunks of pineapple were delicious as well.
The Egg Flour (Nori) soup was so hot I could not eat it at first. I had to add some ice to cool it off. It was full of LOTS of egg, and a good amounts of peas, carrots, and some green onions. It was thick too, not watery like at some other places. Fantastic soup once it cooled a little.
Long story short, both items are gluten free (I would have had a reaction by now if not), delicious, and I am completely full.
It was so good, and such a great value for $15, I ordered a duplicate order to take home with me to enjoy in a couple days. Love it!!
I just wish they had a restaurant 40 miles closer to my location. (Sigh) I guess I'll have to head this way once or twice a month now to pick up some food. It's that good.
I posted pics of...

Had an issue with an order back in December of last year, but I missed the food here and decided to come back to try it again. I was surprised to find Alex and James (store owners) concerned enough to address it when I stopped in today. They seemed genuinely concerned about my meal not having come out right, and they told me to tell them if something's not right.
I just got back home with some beef Yakisoba and crab angles for my girlfriend and I, and the food is good! I'll definitely be back again some time. Yoko is really good for those days that I don't feel like cooking and want something tasty.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I eat here all the time and the food is always a consistent 8/10 and sometimes a 9/10. I really enjoy the teriyaki beef, green pepper beef, chicken yakisoba, orange chicken, and lemon chicken. The older lady that is sometimes at the counter is a strictly business kind of personality, which can be nice when you are in a hurry. The young men that run the counter most of the time are really chill and can be pretty cool if you try to strike a...
Read moreThis was my first visit and I was satisfied with my food enough to be willing to try other items on the menu. Customer service was great and that is a hard thing to find these days. Now, the real reason for this post. A question to the gentleman who gave 1 star because his friend was denied free food. Obviously, I don't know the specifics of your interaction except from what you have written. I'm curious how did that go down? Did you guys walk up to the counter and ask for a free meal for being such a loyal customer? I mean I don't know how the subject of "free" would even been a discussion unless you asked for free food? I think you should have been more specific with your post. If that was the the case in my opinion your review needs to be removed. What world do we live in when someone believes they can walk into somebody’s place of business and they deserve something for free? Free water? Free bathroom maybe? But how do you sack up and ask for a free meal, then cry about it if you...
