I had gotten highlights done a few years ago and had been incredibly happy with the pricing, timing, and quality. So I went to get acrylic nails done before my friend's wedding. I had never gotten acrylic nails done before and I didn't know what the process looked like. I expected to be done in 2 hrs but instead had to stay for 6 hrs for poorly done nails. I understand that student work quality may be lower and that it may take a little longer but waiting for 3-4 times longer was painful. I was incredibly hungry as I didn't bring lunch and was tired from sitting in the same seat all day. I felt like they were just taking advantage of my lack of knowledge of the process and patience. Two separate students worked on my nails because the first one had to leave. Even when the instructors came to help, they worked incredibly slowly. I wanted to get up and leave so many times but I felt like oh, they are almost done until I had been there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. When I briefly mentioned that oh, I have been here for so long, they just told me that they didn't have enough students (even though I had made an appointment) and I should come on a different day when I have more time as I should expect students to be slower. I just felt so helpless. I actually wanted to cry. I will not...
Read moreI went in for a shampoo and a French braid. I didn't know this school is intended for the Hispanic community. Communication was terrible, no I don't speak Spanish. Yes, I'm upset over the entire event. I waited 30 minutes before we even started. The girl only washed 3/4 of my hair. Neglected the back as it was on the edge of the wash bowl. She should have raised my head to wash the back. Then we moved to her chair where a supervisor had to come to do the braid. The student didn't even stick around to learn. The braid looks like a child's braid, not a grown womans. I explained I just had surgery on my shoulder and was unable wash my own hair. The French braid was to last a few days. What I didn't know was she was using oil in my hair. When i got home i noticed the oil and the oil made it look very dirty. I am a white woman, with blonde hair. You DON'T use oil on blonde hair except when conditioning. Now I have to pay again to have it redone. No I won't go back nor...
Read moreMake sure the instructor knows exactly what you want as your haircut because communication between the student and the instructor is horrible. The student didn’t even acknowledge the picture I had for reference. I asked for a long Bob haircut and ended up with I don’t know what. My hair was down to my waist and it is now above my shoulders. The instructor tried to “fix it” but couldn’t get any where close to what I asked as the student had already chopped off the length I wanted. Never had this happened before. I know they are students but they need to ask more questions if they don’t know how to do a certain haircut. The student just kept cutting without asking if it was okay with me. She thought she was done and I told her this is not what I asked for, she went to her instructor, the instructor took over, again, I ended up with a horrible cut. I would suggest for students to be less chitchatting with each other about their personal lives and more focus on what...
