My first time ever going and I've lived in the neighborhood for about 15 years. I finally talked to my friends into going who also have lived around here forever and never been. Where do I begin? I loved everything about the atmosphere, the tablecloth, the service, the food. I ordered a lot of food because everything looked amazing on the menu. I do want to start off with a fair bit of warning. You'll see a picture of a little chili beside nearly every dish on the menu indicating that it's spicy. Whatever I've been to plenty of restaurants that have spicy stuff. Except this time they're not kidding. Ha ha. I jokingly told my server after that next time I come I'm going to need the gringo menu. She laughed at me and said that would never happen. Ha ha. I ordered the dip sampler to start. It was so good especially the fundido dip but our eyes were watering and our noses running from the first bite but it was tolerable. I ordered the tamales and tacos for my entree because I've never met a tamale or taco I didn't like. The shredded beef taco was heavenly. Then I tasted the rice. I have had rice at Mexican restaurants all over the world. Hands down this was the best rice I've ever had. I'm not saying that lightly. The beans were good but the rice is where it's at. I saved the tamale for last. I took one bite of it. Without saying anything I had my friend who is Mexican and her boyfriend take a bite of the tamale. They both started coughing and noses running while I laughed. The tamale was seriously one of the spiciest things I've had in my entire life. I could only get through one or two more bites it was that spicy. My friend ordered the pozole and that was pretty spicy as well. So just be aware that if it has a chili buy it on the menu order it at your own risk. There's definitely varying levels of spice to their dishes and it's all over the place. I also got a side of calabacitas because it's one of my favorite dishes. It was so good! I also got the sopapillas and I've been severely lacking them in my life. To be completely truthful that was the main selling point for me wanting to go. They did not disappoint. I highly recommend a stop by here. Maybe just ask about the spiciness of the different dishes...
Read moreWe just had the WORST dining experience here. Where to start? Visited with family, 3 adults 1 child Arrived at 7 pm. Took our order for soda then did not return for FORTY minutes. Waitress finally comes over and asks if we finished our appetizers. We tell her we never had apps or even got to order. She then takes our order and a half hour gos by before the childs two tacos are brought out but nobody else's food. Child finished and then everyone else's food cones out. One Order was wrong so they take it back. When the wrong order was returned (just 4 tacos) they were literally sitting in a drenched plate of oil soggy and falling apart. As we are dining there was another couple that asked to pay for their drink and leave because their food was taking entirely too long. They got up and left. The food was MID at best, the rice was like soup, very disappointing ,enchiladas were decent, tamale not great, service horrendous. By the time food came it was ten minutes til closing and waitress came over asked if they could mop around us, all staff clearly rushing to clean and shut things down. We had wanted a desert and ordered it a few bites Into dinner since they had taking so long with the service and just got served before close. On top of all of this I'm SURE they made a mistake on the check but we were so rushed it didn't dawn on me until later. 6 tacos total, enchiladas, one tamale shouldn't have been well over $100!! We only ordered one ice cream which they said they comped and no drinks, 4 soda. I was embarrassed I brought family here. Had been here years back and it was good. Never will go back. So many other choices with great food...
Read moreStaff was nice. Restaurant was full of patrons. This review is based off my opinion and experience. I’d love to know where their version of New Mexican food originated from. I’m from NM as well and I have never ever ever had food like this. The chile relleno was wrapped in egg (like an omelette) I took one bite and nearly gagged from this Frankenstein creation. I removed the egg and just ate the chile. My cheese enchilada was very very average. I took two bites of it and had no desire to go back for more. The shredded beef taco was decent. We ordered the queso. The translation for this is, cheese. We were delivered a green concoction with sprinkled cheese on top. The green stuff was possibly their “green sauce?” I really don’t know what it was. The consistency resembled a cream soup. The spice was unfamiliar. Maybe the spice came from a powder of some sort? Point being, I’m not sure what qualifies this as queso dip. My husband ordered the green chile chicken casserole with egg on top. The yolk was hard and the white of the egg was crispy. The bottom of the casserole had a layer of masa or tamale. It was so odd and out of place. Green Chile was not a noticeable ingredient. I ordered a side of their red sauce to see how it tasted. It was nowhere close to red chile. I’m not sure if that is their Intention. There was so much minced garlic in it, the oil added to it was noticeable and the overall flavor was unrecognizable to me. I have eaten New Mexican food for 30 years, all over the state and this take on NM cuisine was something I will not eat again. Was not a fan but it looks like many people...
