Leila cut my hair and permed it. I really enjoyed the service, but she was constantly asking Kara for direction which made me slightly hesitant but I decided to trust the process. The end result was really different from my inspiration but I was happy with it nonetheless and even more, to be honest. When I finally showered after waiting the whole 72 hours, the results were lackluster. The curls were alright, but I thought maybe I did something wrong after putting on product and drying my hair. What concerned me the most though was what happened the next day. My hair was barely curly afterwards and it looked like my perm straightened out overnight. I thought maybe it was me and waited a full week of trying different things until I finally decided to muster up the courage and call the salon for a possible partial refund. They decided on having another appointment so they could "educate me" on how to style my hair with the perm. I let them know my complaints and said my hair wasn't really holding the perm. The owner was there and it felt really combative and like they were trying to shift blame onto me by saying they told me the perm would drop, but what I didn't expect and what they didn't tell me was that it would drop so drastically the next day. I know everyone's hair is different and maybe it's just my hair that dropped so much in one night, but I wanted a perm so I didn't have to style my hair. I wanted a perm for convenience, but what I got was a perm that I have to resuscitate every morning with loads of product. Per Leila, after waking up in the morning, I would have to soak my hair until it's about 50% wet with the product then dry it again. Every. Time. Just to get my hair curly again. They said their salon is more of a collaborative salon where hairstylists will consult with each other but honestly I was just feeling overwhelmed and outnumbered. It felt like they had multiple people as a cya if people didn't like their haircut or something. So if someone wanted to come back to complain, they can tag team them. Maybe that's not their intention but that's how I felt about it. The people I talked to were the owner and Leila (they told me they would have included Kara if she was in that day), this other hairstylist who had his hair permed by Leila so he can tell me his experience with his perm, and this other guy came over, I don't exactly remember why he came over but the owner introduced him and he kinda just left afterwards, no words were really exchanged between us so I don't know why she brought him over. Thankfully my sister showed up later. She came in hot and was mad on my behalf asking the questions I didn't really want to ask because I was there trying to stay on good terms because I really did enjoy the service, just not the outcome. My sisters and I all got our haircuts done together for a sister's day, so she knew the situation. As much as I wasn't happy with my hair, I didn't want to be harsh or anything since they were super nice during the service (and I'm not really combative), so my sister showing up was really relieving and helped me feel less outnumbered. I left with a good impression of the salon the day my hair was done but the way they dealt with this problem afterwards was just disappointing. I was told I would get a call in two days. They called and unfortunately I missed it but I called them back that same day and was told the owner was out and would give me a call back or her email so we can talk about how I'm feeling. It's been a week and I've gotten nothing. I'm upset, I'm disappointed and I'm not happy with my hair. I just want a partial refund, I feel bad for asking for it, but I'm really unhappy with my hair.
Edit: I did call back, but the owner was out and I was told Iâd get a call back. I didnât get a call back or a text after the call. Sorry isnât gonna change the fact Iâm unhappy with my hair/curl pattern and now I have to wait for it to grow out. Get a digital perm yâall. The curls are more consistent and do not rely heavily on product. Same cost for...
Read moreI came to Salon 27 as a new client to have an all-over color done by Anglela. The salon is very clean, neat and orderly with someone to greet me and check me in. I chose Angela because I am new and wanted an experienced colorist. Angela was, indeed, great to work with. But as I quickly discovered, this salon has an amazing chemistry and camaraderie among its stylists and they constantly share input into each client. My color turned out perfect. Angela is changing roles in the salon and will no longer be working directly with hair, but she "handed me over" to a capable stylist to take control of my future appointments. There was zero pressure to buy any products. This will be my new "Home" salon. Their fees are on par with what I had been paying at my previous salon in another state. They are great. UPDATE: I feel my hair is in great hands with Carly. When she asked me how I wanted certain things done and I said I didn't care and left the decisions up to her she didn't balk at all. Carly has a lot of skill and a lot of confidence. This was only my 2nd appointment at Salon 27 and my first with Carly. I am totally pleased and looking forward to future visits. If I want something specific I know Carly will do her best to get it right and if I decide to just let her do own thing to my hair I will love what she does. I will also add that I had an all over color with experienced stylists for both of my visits and in both cases my stylist consulted with another just to get a 2nd set of eyes on the color. That is one of the things that makes Salon 27 SO appealing to me. Everyone seems to get along so well and...
Read more3rd time here and wasnât too happy as far as customer service goes. I called the salon to let them know I was running a little late, front desk was very understanding. I walked in and sat down to wait for Nina. She didnât greet me properly. Told me they were about to call me to cancel my appointment because they only give 15 minute grace periods but I was there before the 15 minutes. Not a hi, how are you, nothing. Then asked me what we were doing today, wanted to use the same formula for my hair that they used last time. Didnât ask if I wanted anything different or gave me other options. After the color she cut my hair the way she wanted to, I told her I wanted layers but nothing else was really communicated. Sat there for 45 minutes waiting for the dye to kick in. Didnât check on me once. Asked if I wanted water and never brought it to me. Seems like she was more interested in talking to her co workers in the back. After all that I paid almost $400 for a haircut, color and shampoo and conditioner. I was shocked. When you book on the website it said $230. Way too expensive for the customer service (or lack of) that I experienced. I wonât be booking with her again. And I may have to find a salon thatâs cheaper because $400 is absolutely insane with inflation and everything else going on. Unacceptable and...
