I am only leaving a review over Google as I was informed I could not have a receipt due to using my abundance of points to pay for my order today. The food tasted fine, but the staff at this location need some major training on customer service.
Today we ordered two enchiladas ala cart and a sweet pork baja bowl with a tortilla on the side. The staff on the line were not friendly and didn't really say much to us, or to the gentleman in front of us. When we arrived they were working on processing online or phone orders, and at one point the gentleman who was working at the beginning of the line literally put his finger up to the guy in front of us as if to indicate "one minute" but didn't day anything to him. No introduction or I'll be right with you. When ordering the baja bowl, I was told that I could not have a tortilla on the side as it didn't come with it. Hmm, that hasn't happened before at ANY of the numerous Costa Vida locations I have visited. Then when asking for a little bit of queso sauce on it, he put the red enchilada sauce on top. Perhaps there was a lot of confusion due to masks, but it did eventually get rectified. I informed the person at expo putting lettuce and pico on the order that I also wanted a small tortilla and then did receive one.
When we went to pay, I used $25 in reward points to pay for the order. When asking for a receipt, I was told since I used points I couldn't have one. Along with that, I find it very odd that we were charged SO much for just a baja bowl with a small amount of queso, a small tortilla, two ala cart enchiladas with queso. I understand that queso is extra, but never THAT much extra.
I have been to many Costa Vida locations across Utah, Arizona and Nevada. This has never been normal procedure. I would have kept this review to a survey response, but seeing as how I was denied a receipt, this is the only thing I've got. I don't believe I will be back to this location. I'll drive the extra mile to go to the location in Queen Creek when I need my Costa fix next time, despite working just up the road...
Read moreVery disappointed. I had been here a couple times before. Today the food was terrible! I took my dad to a doctor's appointment footfall. He's currently living in a rehab where he hasn't been eating well. So I wanted to take him somewhere he would enjoy and eat well. I asked him where he wanted to go and he chose Costa Vida. He said he wanted chicken enchiladas and that they had good ones. We both ordered chicken enchiladas with red sauce and black beans and rice. The guy gave me the wrong beans. I didn't complain. I just wanted dad to have a good meal. I set him up to eat while I got our drinks. I got back to the table and could tell by the look on his face he was disappointed. I took a bite and seriously couldn't figure out what it tasted like. The best way to describe it is it tasted like cardboard! I took 2 bites of the enchilada trying to figure out what the taste was. It was the red sauce that had the rank taste. I took one bite of the rice. It was dry and had no flavor. I tried a bite of the beans but, was not impressed. When I had come here before the place was packed. There were only about 5 tables being occupied. If this is now the norm for the food I can see why it was so dead. The music was so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation. I had to go outside to make a phone call. It was such a disappointment. My dad ate more than I did. He took the rest back to the rehab because he said it might be better than what they are serving. I have been there when his tray comes and sometimes you can't recognize what it is. One time it was supposed to be Sweet and Sour pork it looked like tuna on brown rice. So I understand why he took it back. It would have to be pretty bad too have the enchiladas as a back up. I feel bad he didn't get a good...
Read moreToday, Cinco de Mayo, was the worst customer service we have ever had, and we are regulars. We have gone every Friday since it opened. The newer crew of people working are terrible (except Joel). Where the heck is Juan when you need him? 1) The girl asked me what I wanted on my salad and then ignored me when I said what I wanted. So I had to repeat myself 3 more times before she actually did it right. Then she did the same thing on my husband's salad. 2) We also ordered a kid's meal to go. The cinnamon dessert tortilla was forgotten, so they promised to bring it out to us. After quite a while had passed, we had to go ask for it, and it was just sitting there on the counter. They said, "they were really busy tonight." NOT. We've been there with the line out to the door. This was NOT the case at all. 3) They HAD NO HOT SAUCE. We asked for the bottles to be refilled with Tapatio, and the employee said they were out. Then the manager (girl in a black shirt) came out and said, "The owners haven't ordered any hot sauce." REALLY? 4) I went and asked another girl for a bag, because we were now leaving. I told her that Cafe Rio would NEVER be out of HOT SAUCE and, that they have about 5 different kinds to choose from. She looked at the empty shelf and said, "No they're just out on the tables." I said, "No, they aren't. Believe me, we've looked, and so we're leaving." (She missed the whole conversation about manager girl throwing the owners under the bus for not having...
