Sauce Pizza & Wine — Restaurant in Mesa

I rarely give a bad review because I know it's hard to be perfect all the time. I believe if you try and give me a good effort and things just don't click I won't hold it against you. However, my experience at this sauce place was unique. To be fair I entered this place 10 minutes before closing time on a Friday night. The young kid that took my order was very nice and tried his best. However as I was ordering I noticed the manager or owner peering over at my family and I. We had difficulty deciding and also hearing what was available and again, this was probably my fault as much as the cashier's. Well, as I look up expecting to smile and say hi to the manager I get this stare down from him. This is a guy thing where you look at another guy and usually say hi or something...but to my surprise I get this very aggressive stare down action. Now here I am coming to your business bringing my money with my wife and little girl after an extremely long day and I'm in a stare down with the owner/manager because I want to give him my money for some pizza??? I couldn't believe it. So, in a split second I decide to head straight out the door. I will never consider sauce again as a possibility. Maybe the guy had some personal issues going on because I didn't do or say anything to him. It was just a nonverbal look and vibe he gave me that I interpreted as hyper aggressive and angry I decided to eat there. My wife asked me what was going on as we walked out but my daughter who is only 11 knew exactly what I was talking about because she felt it too. So I'm not out to ruin anyone business. We all have bad days and things that really hurt. But please try to be friendly and welcoming to others as they choose your place to eat. Again the kids working there were top notch and friendly. Food is good but the last few times we have been disappointed with the service. Last night was the last straw. We were celebrating our grandson’s birthday and he ordered a pepperoni pizza. I ordered a panini and my wife ordered a specialty pizza. My wife was served first and my panini came out almost 10 minutes later. No pepperoni pizza. After another 20 minutes I asked someone about our order. He said it was not entered into the computer; I asked to see the receipt and it the counter person did not enter the pepperoni pizza. I asked to talk to the manager and explained we came in to celebrate a birthday and have a fun time. Now my grandson is hungry and my wife and I are pretty upset for the long wait. He told me that I should have seen the error on the screen. I told him its not my job to check the screen. I wondered why the counter people aren’t train to confirm the order, or ask the customer to check the screen, or provide a receipt (no receipt was given to me and I was not asked if I wanted a receipt). The manager never apologized for the mistake but blamed me for the pizza not being ordered. He offered to sell us a pizza at but to wait another 20 minutes; this was not acceptable to me. Edit 3/5/25. Got talked inyo going again. Pizza was cooked perfect and there is now a to go line. Great job Sauce.

Curbside is beyond terrible. My order was ready for pickup at 7:28 and I arrived at 7:27 to let them know I was here. They finally brought my food out at 7:48. The food is no where near go enough to wait this long for. Instead of wasting your time and money at this dump shack I suggest going to Shlotzkys. Shlotzkys has a drive thru with much better pizza options.

Edit 3/10/23 This place is so bad. Place an order online for pick up. Ready time is 7:45. I get there at 7:43. While waiting in the line that was almost out the door, I called to ask if I can skip the line since I’m picking up. They said I had to wait in line. 20 minutes later I get to the register. This place is a joke. Management is possibly the worse you will ever come across. Zero structure! Never again. I should have listened to myself from the terrible experience with curbside. Mellow mushroom has good pizza and they have a to go area. In and out in under 2 mins. They should get rid of sauce and put a salads and go in the place.
