To start off, it was confirmed from LA Bundoo Khan that Arizona location is NOT an official authorized Bundoo Khan outlet.
Went to “Bundoo Khan”, we were all looking forward to trying Bundoo Khan as it is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston, so of course we were excited to try it when we heard it’s coming to Arizona. Unfortunately, my family and I were very disappointed with our food. The pros: owners sons were very polite and keeping customers calm & up to date while the restaurant was slowly getting busy. We got there around 6 pm & the owners son proceeded to tell us they ran out of meat and were grabbing some from Baiz Market and restaurant should open back up at 6:30. Which was fine, we were okay with waiting, but I had some suspicion about how the marinating process will be considering they’re out buying meat at the time of customers coming in. Also is the meat really halal? Was it really from Baiz… Prices were VERY high, but since it’s “Bundoo Khan” we let it slide. Upon arrival of food, the first thing that caught our eyes were the NAANS and the PARATHAS!!! None of it looked fresh, they were definitely bought from the frozen food section of lotus market, to be specific it was the Deep brand naans I warm up at home and they weren’t even warmed up properly. You would expect the naans to be made fresh from tandoor. Also the paratha is the most important part from Bundoo Khans menu & AZ location’s was awful dry and cold. We ordered Beef Bihari Kabob the meat was raw, half of it was uncooked so I couldn’t even stomach any of that. I tried the Beef Seekh Kabob and it was cold on the inside, the Chicken Tikka BBQ Special was also nothing “bbq” related, super bland flavorless food. The portions were extremely small considering the price of these menu items & every menu item we ordered heavily lacked spices. The quality & food resembled and tasted like Frozen food. Highly disappointed. Staff was great & super polite, but the food was unfortunately not good at all. This isn’t authentic Bundoo Khan & I wish they had better prepared for their new customers, save your...
Read moreI went into the Indian foods Turmeric grocery store on Alma just south of Baseline. I was looking to get some lentil, and several Desi snacks that I like. Upon checkout, I noted the doorway to the Saima restaurant. It so happened that I was inside the window for their Sunday(only) buffet, at $21. I had no idea this was there, and the young man said they are in their 3rd year.
He said that Mom is Pakistani, and Dad is Indian. The Muslim n.w. region is where beef is consumed, and it is delicious. I was told that they always have the signature Beef Nihari, Paneer cheese masala. The other items are changed-out each week. IIRC, he said you can go to their Facebook on Thursday to see what the options are.
Everything was delicous, and I have put captions to my photos. The naan was exceptionally l light, and fluffy, unlike what I am accutomed to. I went to lift the chicken leg in the picture, and the meat fell from the bone. You couldn't ask for more tender meat items, most of which is apparently cooked overnight. Ditto the chickpease. You could honestly mash them and spread them across the bread if you chose. The tastes are just different enough from both N. and S. Indian foods to make this worth recommending. Enjoy.
P1, a bowl of Beef Nihari with proper garnish of slivered ginger, minced jalapeno and cilantro. P2 a kebab of seasoned, mixed beef and spices. Tender goat on the bone, chicken and rice pulao, and Chicken 65. P3 is light fluffy naan, melt in your mouth chana(also called chole), and Chicken Tikka. P4 Front...
Read moreThis restaurant which is actually a Pakistani restaurant is a really great jem!
This is my 2nd time trying it, and I had no idea that this place was even a new restaurant!
In my meal, my family had Mix Platter which included a lot of meats and my favorite was Gola Kabab, Seekh Kabab, and Chicken Drumstick. Their Nihari is great too and along with the Naan and Paratha. You can also tell them to lower their spices if you think it is too spicy which usually it is not. If you’re looking for cons, the rice is usually good but if it taste not good, then it’s probably undercooked so let them know so that they can improve it in the future. They appreciate constructive criticism!
Their Mango Lassi is Superb and their tea is amazing!
The ambiance is good, the waiters are really friendly and will help you with anything you need and the place is clean. Their prices are reasonable meaning it’s not expensive.
I recommend anyone to check this restaurant out, especially for foodies or anyone else outside visiting to check it...
