Smoking Tiger Korean BBQ — Restaurant in Mesa

Smoking Tiger never disappoints. My wife and I had been looking for a really good KBBQ place in the East Valley for a while, came in on a whim after reading reviews, and have been coming back and blown away repeatedly ever since. The service, ambience, and quality of food value for what you pay is bar none, we literally told each other after our first visit “we’ve found our spot”.

It’s not only consistent, but also refreshing. Huge shout out to Oscar, who has served us during most of our visits, he is one of the kindest and most thoughtful service workers we’ve ever had the privilege of encountering! Every single other staff member is an absolute gem as well, not sure where they find them but we’ve never had a negative experience.

The food is delicious of course, well-worth the money with everything that you get, and never wavers in quality - from the slowest Tuesday night to the busiest Valentine’s Day holiday (Also really loved the decor and costumes the staff had on Halloween!)We typically go for the Smoking Tiger A combo, which comes with several amazing meats, super high quality banchan, and amazing hot sides - everything being a 10/10. I would buy their kimchi and spicy soon tofu soup by the gallon if I could!

Also, if you drink alcohol, their specials beat out the best deals anywhere we’ve ever been.

Even though they allow reservations for large parties, this place is not large-party friendly. We came with our family and ordered a large smoking tiger combo and large beef combo amongst other things. They split our party and seated us in separate tables next to each other. However, they didn’t split the plates of meat, so that meant we had to somehow manage to pass the large plates of raw meats back and forth. 😖 I feel like they could have easily accommodated this and just halved each the combos for each table so we didn’t have to pass the large plates of raw meats back and forth between 12 people across two tables. It made things super inconvenient and difficult and half the people got only half the items and didn’t get to try everything. And, our grill kept malfunctioning but it was so extremely difficult to find someone to stop to help us. If sides are unlimited, we were never offered. We also kept running out of water. Over $350+ for a party of 12 (2 kids) and we were definitely not full. If I had to choose between this or AYCE, I would choose AYCE at this time unfortunately. I will say that the cuts of meats that I got to try were fresh and good quality though. Would recommend the brisket. Even right at opening at 5pm, there was already a crowd waiting at the door. Another great addition to the east valley and very fortunate to have this place down the street from me. Those who are familiar with Hodori this is their newest restaurant. The interior and the lighting of this place is great! Nice wall accents and flooring.

This place is NOT all you can eat and is a La carte or provided pre-set combos. I ordered a large beef combo and a small pork combo. This concludes a soup, steamed egg , and corn cheese. The banchan is great, however the corn cheese can use some work as my party could not finish (2) them. Not enough corn, too much cheese as the flavor of the aged cheese can taste a bit taint…nevertheless still a great visit. Each meat that came with our order was tender! Great quality cuts and no complaints as it was juicy.

They will cook for you at this spot so you can sit back and hangout. The service was exceptional and Katie (or Katy?) showed us what’s best to order. She was attentive, personable, and on top of her game servicing us and additional tables. I would love to have her service my party and I again on our next visit as she made the dining experience here memorable.
