Tito's Taco Shop — Restaurant in Mesa

Disappointed with the severe drop in quality and service of this place. Ordered: Chicken Burrito, a taco plate, bean and cheese burrito, cheese quesadilla, and carne asada fries. Typical order for our family that has been coming to this location for 7 YEARS! Yes back in the Los Favoritos days.

Settling into our meal at home with our take out, we notice the rice tastes different in a bad way, like a chemical way, and smells “clean” for lack of better word. Okay, we will just not eat the rice from the taco plate and not eat any more of the chicken burrito.

We give a courtesy call to let them know about the rice so it wouldn’t be served to anyone else. Did not ask for anything, just wanted everyone to be safe.

Stat back down to eat and in the beans on the taco plate there is a thick short black hair. In the beans not just on top.

That was the breaking point. We had already thrown away the burrito so I bagged up the rest of the food and took it back for a refund.

This is where the poor service comes in. Treated as if we were not serious about not wanting to eat the food they tried to dispute refunding the burrito since it wasn’t in the bag. We were, however, fully refunded when we made it clear we were not leaving with the food and would absolutely not be eating any of it.

Here is a photo of the trash burrito since apparently you have to prove that food is revolting enough to get your money back.

I mistakenly called in a to-go order this past weekend to the University location. I live in San Tan Valley, and thought I was calling that store. My mistake. As soon as I discovered my error, I called to cancel the order, but was told they had already made the food and I had been charged. I informed them that their location is a 45 minute drive, one way, so I was not going to be picking up the order, because my food would be cold and soggy by the time I got it back home and hour and a half later. The man I spoke to did not offer to help in any way, so I asked him if he would give me a partial refund, to cover the cost of food. I told him I thought that would be fair to both of us, so he's not out anything, but I don't get hit with the full price when I'm not receiving anything. I was calm and respectful, but he argued with me, then asked me to hold. I could hear him discussing the issue with the manager in Spanish, then after holding for 9 minutes, he hung up on me. I tried calling back 3 times, and they refused to answer my call, and proceeded to charge me full price. I thought my request was fair and reasonable, but regardless, being rude to a customer, hanging up on them, then avoiding them is absolutely unacceptable for any business. I would avoid this particular location, just for the horrible service alone. To the manager: I hope the $18 was worth this 1 star review. Treat people better...

This fast food place is more like a Filibertos than it is a taco shop. Was hoping to find legit authentic Mexican tacos here but it's similar to all the other Mexican fast food places nearby (Filibertos, Los Betos, Rolbertos etc.) The inside is cleaner than some of the other bertos type places as well.

The mini tacos are 3 for $10 and come with Cilantro and Onion plus a grilled Jalapeño for $10. Make sure you ask for lime wedges or you won't be getting any for your tacos! All three mini tacos have to be the same type of meat, you are not allowed to order one of each kind. The meat choices are limited here to 3 or 4 types and they do not have Al Pastor meat. The red salsa had good flavor and was spicier than my grilled jalapeño and the green salsa was a lot more mild.

The carne asada torta comes with refried beans in it which I wasn't expecting and the bread it comes on is not a bolillo it's just as sweet as a hamburger bun. I prefer the Filibertos carne asada tortas but for the price Tito's is a better value.

The prices here are lower than at Filibertos and the service was good and the portion sizes are also good for the price. I might come back and try something else from the menu if I'm in the area as all the Filibertos are way...
