Worst experience and worst Griff's! Shift leaders/ Managers are horrible and that is why the rest of the workers act the way they do. There is no order in that place! Went to have lunch with a co-worker and I ordered FRESH tater tots with cheese, but when I asked for them when the guy played them, I was told that my tots weren't going to be cooked until my order was ready, but the RUDE woman calling out the orders when the are ready. I told her that if those were my tots I want going to want them when my order was ready cause I asked for the to be FRESH. When she noticed that my order was ready she grabbed the container of tots and took them to where they are cooking and was talking to the guy there. I didn't move and I noticed that NO TOTS had been dropped to cook . She stayed back there for approximately 1 minutes and then comes back and calls out 3 orders that were ready and then she looks at me and tells me to have a seat and they'll call me when my order is ready and I tell her to just give me a refund cause no one was coming the tots. She got upset and said that the tots were being cooked and she one more than me, after I told her the tots were not being cooked. The fry guy then stared that no he didn't drop any tots and he wasn't going to... Another lady, possibly Supervisor in red came out and asked what the problem was and the guy is running his mouth and she tells him to do the tots. I just ask her for my refund.. There was no apology due her "workers" attitudes or anything. I will NEVER go there again. I would rather drive across town to Irving to eat. I was reading other reviews they NEVER correct an order that is WRONG due to there fault and they NEVER answer the phones, so your just stuck with a wrong order. WORST...
Read moreLegendary Hamburgers in Mesquite! If you are reading this review right now, just stop. Stop it. You are wasting your time. Every second you are reading what I am typing is a moment you could be stuffing your face with classic, old school, they don't make em' like this anymore Griff's Hamburgers. Oh, you want to keep reading anyways? Whatever. Fine.
I don't know if you're from around here, but Griff's is an institution. This particular Griff's in Mesquite has been here for at least 40 years now, maybe longer. The fact that it is still standing and there is a line around the building should be all the proof you need. But no, not you. You like to read. Don't you?
This is not some kind of bou'jee burger. This is a hardcore, old school, 1960's style burger joint. They got shakes, they got onion rings, they got little burgers. A lot of people don't know about the chicken fried steak sandwich, which also hits the spot.
You may not know this, but a long long time ago Griff's was a huge national chain with locations across the south. Decades ago the company fell apart, and today just a handful of independently owned and operated locations remain. Thankfully for you: this is one of them. Perhaps, the greatest of them all.
Griff's Mesquite is not just a place to eat a burger. It's a place to step back in time and literally consume the cultural fabric of this community. Now get in there and...
Read moreThe quality of food and the service has really gone downhill from a year, or even several months or weeks ago. They have a new staff and they are absolutely horrid. From an initial call that we made inquiring about any specials to the absolutely horrible service that we received when we arrived. The girl that answered the phone was extremely unenthusiastic, then her only response to an easily answered question was "I don't know, they didn't tell me." We only asked her if there were any specials that night. Then I had the Jambalaya, or what was listed on the menu as such. They just threw a bunch of ingredients and called it Jambalaya. It was absolutely horrendous. My husband had the Jalapeno Catfish, and he never complains about anything, but even he admitted that the quality of food seemed to have diminished since our last visit. The sense of humor given By the "Hostess" desired much tact, consideration, rethought, and just basic downright customer service skills. As exiting after a disastrous meal, I merely asked for a toothpick. To which she responded "that there was a Dollar Store up the road." I was done. In fact we are done. We used to go there at least twice a month to eat out. We will definitely be finding another favorite spot to eat at. Especially one without the...
