It is with great disappointment that I write this review for Antonio’s. I have been a customer of Antonio’s for more than 2 decades. For years, we’ve enjoyed countless delicious pies. Last night, the pepperoni pie we ordered “just tasted off”. The pepperoni itself did not taste fresh and had a strange taste to it (very different than usual). Unfortunately, I had to take all of the pepperoni off my pie. When I spoke to my adult son this afternoon about the pizza from last night, he brought up, without me ever first mentioning it, that he also thought the pizza did not “taste right”.

When my mom called Antonio’s a little while ago to let them know our observations about the pizzas, she was met with very unexpected resistance from the man who answered the phone. He seemed very defensive and told my mom, “Our pizzas are always fresh! The pepperoni’s always fresh! None of my customers complain!” When she asked him his name, he refused to tell her. He also would not tell her when the owner would be at the store and available to speak with.

Until last night, we too would have agreed that the pizzas were always fresh. Hopefully, last night was just a fluke. However, what really leaves a bad taste in my mouth is the rudeness of this...

I'm honestly a little shocked at my experience here. I went onto their website (not some third party site) and ordered a lunch special wrap (comes with fries and soda) for myself. I got a text from Slice saying it will be ready in 10-15 minutes. I show up at the 10 minute mark and the guy asks me why I came as he didn't mark the order as complete through Slice. I apologize because I didn't even know I could track my order and I was fine with waiting a little while longer. He hands me my wrap and I ask if I should just grab the soda from the fridge and he starts saying I don't get the lunch special because I ordered from Slice. I understand small business's grips about third party places like Slice but I literally directly ordered from their website - how was I supposed to know its powered by Slice? If they put on their website that they prefer phone calls I would have done that. I also think if he just talked to me nicely and said next time please call instead, that would have been fine but his tone was so rude and uncalled for. I didn't give him any attitude back. On top of that, I didn't get the fries or soda that comes with the special. I hope they fix how they do their online ordering. The wrap...

Jay must be rolling over in his grave seeing what is being served at what was once the best pizza shop in Metuchen. Noticeable changes to cheaper ingredients, staff not knowing how to properly cook, and how they treat their patrons is a abysmal. Antonio's was our families go to place for over a decade. The pizza is now on the same level as cheaply made pizza that one would get at a Chuck E Cheese, you know waxy /plastic type cheese on floppy dough. Last gripe before I come to a close, we were in a pinch for a family party and called to place a catering order for $150-$200 (Pizza, chicken fingers, pasta, salad....nothing crazy) and to pick it up by 11:30am, you would think new ownership would be like "Thank You for your business, we would love to take your order", NOPE! Even though they open at 10:00am they claimed they don't fulfill catering orders that early in the day. Needless to say we took our business to L&L Pizza and they were more than happy to accommodate.....highly recommend this place for the new folks in town! Antonio's you should be ashamed of yourselves and you're losing a lot of long time...

Antonio's is a small brick oven pizzeria in the heart of Metuchen. The atmosphere is casual and I really appreciated the various paintings, awards, and art hanging around the restaurant. This decor really added a level of comfort to the restaurant that gave it more of a friendly, neighborhood restaurant feel. While the restaurant is small, there is still a decent amount of seating. The service was quick and our server was very friendly. We decided to order the Margherita pie. The crust was beautifully browned in the manner that only a wood oven can do. It was fluffy and had a pleasant smokey flavor. The cheese was fresh and the tomato sauce was rich and tangy. The added tomatoes also tasted great and added a level to this Margherita pie, though they also brought an added bit of messiness, as they had the tendency to slide off of the slice. Overall, I was very pleased with the flavors I got from the pie and definitely hope to try their deep-dish Margherita and see how that compares.

Started a new job in the area and I asked my coworkers where's the nearest best pizzeria' they didn't really have a recommendations so I just randomly picked Antonio's as the name involved Brick Oven and if you know anything about pizza this is the way! I dined in with my coworker and brought back a specialty pie for the office. We split the eggplant parm and I had the Claims Linguine entree and my coworker ordered the baked ziti entree. The service was quick and when the food was served OMG the smell was wonderful. Definitely an authentic NY style pizzeria! We both loved our lunch and beyond satisfied. My coworker had no clue this place existed. When we got back, the office immediately smelled the baked ziti pie and devoured every part of the pie. Needless to say this might be the go to pizzeria for us from now on! I'll try n post another review next time we go as I plan on trying the entire menu.

Don't blame me, blame slice! I should of called them to order but the last time I did I spoke to an extremely rude woman on the phone and wanted to avoid that. I wanted a easy pick up experience but it wasn't the case. Nobody said anything to me till my food was ready. Here are photos of the ordering process with their deals. I'm guessing the owner claimed with the coupon you can select a topping. I tried to tell him that's not the case. Here is proof. Every step in the ordering process. I even contacted slice to make sure I'd get the sausage knowing that special requests involve an additional charge which I was fine with. I went through their website for online ordering and it took me to slice. Don't be rude towards me, take it up with slice. Listen to what your customers have to say. Otherwise you'll have no customers at all!
