I have been frequenting Che Pizza in Metuchen for a little over two years, since my friend opened his shop in the area. When I discovered their large meat-lovers pizza with a garlic knot crust AND they can top it with vegan dairy-free cheese (I can't do dairy), I was hooked!!! I've ordered this pie over and over and over, traveling an hour round-trip just for this incredible delicacy.
Then I heard recently that there were new owners, and I worried that things would change, but my wife convinced me to give it a try; BAD ADVICE! I called and ordered the pie, and when I arrived I opened the box I was immediately disappointed. The large pizza box contained a medium pizza at best, the garlic knots - usually quite hearty - were tiny, the toppings - usually plentiful - were scarce, and the vegan cheese was almost non-existent. I questioned the new owner if this was in fact a large pie, to which she responded a resounding "yes" and she was obviously lying. And then, the ultimate insult, I was charged $42.00(!!!!!) for something that I had always been charged about $30.00 that was smaller in every way. I politely paid the bill and WILL NEVER EVER patronize what was my favorite pizzeria again!
What posses people to purchase an establishment with faithful patrons and change everything, especially the quality of the food, and quantity of the portions and the prices they charge, is beyond me. But I warn you, new owners . . . I am sure I am not the first dissatisfied customer, and I will not be the last to customer who's business you will lose and have lost. Learn for your mistakes and fix them now before you drive Che Pizza into the ground.

Read moreI went here with my partner yesterday to the weirdest and most uncomfy experiences we ever had eating out. We walked in, waiting to be sat. The server went behind the counter, immediately asking what we wanted. We were a bit stunned as it looked like a sit down restaurant, and the server said “pizza? Slices?” Keep in mind there was no menu in sight so we both confusingly ordered a few slices as we didn’t even get to look at the pizza and were being rushed to order with no context. Right as he put the pizza on the register he then charged us righr then and there without us ordering drinks, and placed two paper plates on the glass display and told us to grab it. So we grab the pizzas and went to sit. I would understand if this was one of those type of pizza places, but I could not get behind the juxtaposition of eating on a paper plate with a single napkin next to a ceramic plate with a hankerchief on it. The server went over and removed some of the forks and knifes set (thanks bud :/) and we awkwardly ate in silence. Eventually we both decided to grab water cause we were never able to order one, so I grabbed it and the server wordlessly did the purchase. I’d understand if they were close to closing, but it was 3pm and nothing indicated anything of the sort. I went through the reviews to see if I was mistaken, but everyone else I see on here had a sit down restaurant experience. I am not sure if we did anything to offend, or if it was because of how we were visibly a couple, but I would highly not recommend eating here, and will never be...
Read moreChe pizza isn't just a pizzeria, they are a full on ristorante with so many other tasty items. I've seen them serve charcuterie too. Seriously, scroll through my pictures.
You guys have already moved up as my #2 pizza place in Central NJ. High quality ingredients are used, and there are dishes with a creative spin. From their plain pizza, or grandma slice alone, you taste a fresh mozzarella quality that transports you to Naples Italy. That is where the chefs are from. I can't recommend enough other flavors they have. The calamari pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, and garlic knots crust slice. Even in their garlic knot you taste an olive oil so good.
Try their chicken cutlet subs. Literally tastes like what you can get immediately in Hoboken, NJ. A nice baguette that is soft and accompanies the lightly fried texture of the chicken cutlet. That chicken cutlet is made to order too. You don't get a leftover chicken cutlet taken from the side!
CHE bomb. What is a che bomb? It is a delicious garlic rubbed focaccia chicken cutlet sandwich. You get a good taste of the crisp chicken cutlet with melted mozzarella, lathered with vodka sauce. A good vodka sauce where you taste the vodka and not mostly heavy cream.
However they make their dough and source the ingredients, they are doing it right. This isn't a place copying American Italian cuisine, rather it's a refreshing native Italian's take that adds to the diversity of Central NJ restaurants. Do check them out! Support them in cash and you'll get a decently...
