So, I have eaten at Lorna's many times and also have picked up my food for carry out, usually we you there the place is bustling, I ordered for pickup last night, the prices have went up ridiculously on everything, not to mention the menu has been cut down, if it were up to me I would have never made this purchase but my person said go ahead. We purchased 2 brown stew chicken, when making my order I never realized that the peas and rice are a side(maybe because the price is so expensive I am in focus mode) and I grew up with Caribbean people and I know rice is a part of all most all of their meals, so this is what we had 2 brown stew chicken( 6 very small pieces of chicken cut up peas-rice, collard greens and side of mac and cheese, then we ordered a side of fried conch(3 pieces and a bunch of crumbs, no fries that cost a whooping $22.00 ,total check was $82.86. Now I know that there is inflation but not chicken I go to Publix and buy the 10 pound bag of thigh-drums for $9.99 ask them to cut it up for brown stew/curry and that's exactly what those pieces of chicken looked like only smaller exactly 6 small pieces . I wonder how long they will stay in business with those prices because for the first time when I went there it was empty no one at the bar and only one table had 3 people and they might have been employees because they were deep in the cut. Also they had stopped giving the cornbread as a part of the meal, look at the menu and see how much that is selling for. Dutch Pot is going to put Lorna's out of business, I asked my person what was the difference between the two because he frequently goes to Dutch Pot , Price and Servings. That was definitely my last time going to Lorna's for sure. No wait, because they didn't...
Read moreWent to eat here for the first time with a friend. Nice place. Looks good inside and the employees are very nice and polite. I have 1 complaint tho. It dosen't have to do with my service. First I had oxtail with rice and peas, steamed cabbage and plantains. I felt that there was a little lite on the amount of meat on the oxtail. More bones than meat for the price. The rice needs a little more work on it. Even tho the rice was ok .Now on what bothered me. There was a customer that was picking up his order and there was something wrong with it. The young man(waiter) that was serving food today 12/6/20 took the food to the kitchen and opened the container. He was talking to one of the cooks and at the same time he started picking food(with his bare hands, no gloves)from the container and setting it aside. He kept on taking food out with his hands until finally the cook(with gloves) took the container out of his hands and kept on removing food from it. That's a no-no. I was able to witness this cause I was on the opposite side of the bar, next to the kitchen. For that I give them 3 stars for some improvements. I would go again tho. This is not a negative comment or complaint. This hopefully improves the restaurant so it can be a 5 star. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hope it helps the business...😁👌 This is in response to the owner's of Lorna's , I wasn't mistaken when I saw the young male waiter taking out food from the "take out" order with "No" gloves. I was looking at them clearly from where I was sitting. Like I said , this is not a complaint but just a awareness that there's always someone watching you handle food at all times. So do onto others the same way you expect they do to you. Hope the owner's can take this and learn and improve there very nice...
Read moreI’ve visited Lorna’s Caribbean Restaurant several times over the years, hoping the service would eventually match the quality of the food because truthfully, the food is very good. The flavors are authentic, the portions are fair, and you can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve.
Unfortunately, the customer service continues to be a major disappointment. Each time I visit, I’m reminded that good food alone isn’t enough to make people want to return. On my most recent visit, I was seated and left waiting without anyone coming to the table to greet me, take my order, or even acknowledge my presence. I sat long enough that I started wondering if I was invisible. I eventually asked other customers leaving if they even noticed me sitting there that’s how neglected I felt.
It’s disheartening because as a Black woman, I make a conscious effort to support Black-owned businesses. But experiences like this make it difficult to continue doing so when basic hospitality and respect are missing. People don’t just come out for food they come for the experience, and no one wants to feel dismissed or overlooked.
I sincerely hope management takes this as constructive feedback and makes real changes. Lorna’s has the potential to be one of the best Caribbean spots around if the customer service matched the flavor coming out of that kitchen. Until then, the food may be good, but the service leaves a...
