This week, my family and I visited Cafe Mi Vitrola, a Cuban restaurant located in Miami Lakes. The ambiance of the place is undeniably beautiful, capturing the vibrant and welcoming essence of Cuban culture. Our waitress mirrored this charm with her friendly and welcoming demeanor, which initially set high expectations for our dining experience. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to these expectations. As a Cuban, I can attest that the dishes we tried were far from the 10/10 experience one would hope for at an authentic Cuban restaurant. We started with chicharron and guacamole with pico de gallo and tostones. The guacamole was overwhelmingly acidic, and instead of the expected pico de gallo, we were served yuca mojito. The chicharron, which should be crispy, was disappointingly elastic. These starters were not off to a great start. The main courses continued this trend of disappointment. They were bland and lacked any distinctive Cuban flavors. The dishes were under-seasoned, including the grilled vegetables, which were not seasoned at all. This lack of flavor extended to every aspect of our meal, making it a rather uninspiring culinary experience. To finish off, we ordered a natural lemonade. Unfortunately, it was so acidic that we couldn’t finish it. Even the regular water had a hint of lemon, which might not be to everyone's taste. If you prefer plain water, make sure to inform the waitress in advance. In conclusion, while Cafe Mi Vitrola has a beautiful setting and excellent service, the food quality leaves much to be desired. For a restaurant aiming to be an authentic Cuban establishment, significant improvements in their food preparation and seasoning are necessary. Until then, it falls short of providing a true Cuban dining experience.

Oh the high hopes… yet another terrible concept in the lakes. This time it’s poorly executed rip off of cafe la trova in little Havana but poorly executed. Menu descriptions do not match what’s being served. Food prices are inline with the market but just lack on all sides Paella with par boiled rice and egg shade food coloring - that’s authentic. Poorly executed risotto with oxtail menu read welll but again I felt like channeling my inner Gordon Ramsey for a being served an undercooked risotto - check. Cuban sandwich empanadas with a farce made of what appears to be our dogs canned dog food with a hint of badia bottled mojo, no cheese, ham, pickles, or even mustard sauce - double check. Ceviche with “mahi mahi” more like the finest imported Swai. Chocolate cake from the gourmet bakery’s of GFS - check again. Croquetas with the taste of raw flour from the bechamel - again check. Cocktail menu is generic and paid for by placement, and I’m sure are a page out of any cocktail book from Barnes and noble. Albeit the food/drink prices are fair, However Service lacks and is delayed. I’m sure Michelle Bernstein would gladly consult on your menu and Julio Cabrera on your cocktails - he lives down the street - ask him Sincerely, Another disappointed Miami Lakes resident and well traveled gourmand who wants a great place to eat but is forced to drive to the gables, Ft. Lauderdale, brickell, little Haiti and the beach to do so. PS shame on the landlords for opening a Cuban restaurant next to another Cuban restaurant that had a mysterious. Fire weeks before this location opening.

Opening night was a hit! Full house, great music with live band and amazing dj, food and drinks were amazing. Expected service to lack a little being new and first day, but honestly cannot complain. Staff very attentive and fast. Love the ambiance. You could feel everyone having a great time and socializing. Super clean! I went again for Brunch on Sunday and again, super impressed. I wish I lived next door, the vibe was sooo good I'd be there on the regular! I tried the Vaca Frita sliders, frituras de Malanga (had eaten a few before pic lol), Mojito. At brunch I had the breakfast sandwich and a lemonade with coconut and ginger.... like I've never had before. Delicious!!!! If you like to dance to classic Salsa, especially the Cuban way, this is the place! Oh and family-oriented. Not clubby, nice atmosphere.

Just went for drinks! They were good. I liked the aesthetics of the place with the decor and quotes! Need to try the food but it was nice. However we went on a Friday night. And the music was extremely loud. Like very loud you can’t actually have a conversation or you have to scream to each other to hear. Like yes. Live music is good. But should be toned a bit down for it to be more enjoyable. Even when the waiters were taking orders and such they gotta scream or get super close to hear you. They’re nice but really battling with how loud the music was is crazy! They did say it mainly happens Friday and weekend nights when they play live music. So perhaps consider that!

Amazing Cuban little spot! The brunch was amazing!! The drink was delicious and so cute. I'll attach a picture. Havana inspired decor. Lots of servers and the service was amazing! We enjoyed the rum and banana French toast which was delicious. The tortilla española had such great flavor. And the avocado toast was soooooo good! Such a nice, family friendly place. Clean and live music which was so nice! Lots of great favorite songs. This is a must try! Or come on repeat. Alfredo was our server! He was very professional, friendly, and courteous!

It was my aunts 80th birthday and it was a blast...the staff was amazing, we couldn't be any more pleased, the location was perfect, we had mariachi and they had a live singer...lastly...the food was on point, good grief was the food on point...this place is a must and definitely a bucket list to go back again...
