El Machetico had been recommended by a few people as THE place to enjoy an authentic and delicious Colombian breakfast. I thought to myself âIf the breakfast is so good, Iâm sure the lunch will be too.â My first obstacle was the parking. Despite being a spacious parking lot, it was very crowded and challenging to find a spot. Once inside, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly. We were seated immediately and I was happy to see so many food options and a few lunch specials. After that, my experience went down hill. To start off, the empanadas werenât visually appealing and tasted very bland. This was followed by a semi-burnt piece of chicken and rice that tasted old. The people I was with, said the soup was âokayâ and that the tostones were extremely over fried and too crunchy. Despite the friendly service and clean restaurant appearance, the food wasnât the best. Not sure if breakfast is significantly better but I will most likely not be returning for lunch.    Read moreEl Machetico is a culinary gem, a vibrant slice of Colombia right here in town. From the moment you walk in, the air is filled with the tantalizing aroma of arepas and sizzling meats. The decor is simple, but the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with music and the happy chatter of satisfied diners.
The menu is a delightful journey through Colombian cuisine. I started with the empanadas, perfectly golden and filled with a savory mix of beef and potatoes. For my main course, I opted for the bandeja paisa, a hearty platter of grilled steak, chicharrĂłn, rice, beans, a fried egg, and avocado. It was a feast! Each element was cooked to perfection, and the combination of flavors and textures was simply outstanding.
The service was friendly and efficient, with the staff eager to offer recommendations and ensure a pleasant dining experience. And donât forget to try the coconut lemonade â itâs absolutely amazing!
Parking was easy, and we found a table right away with no wait.
Iâm giving 4 stars only because there was something about the meat that I personally didnât enjoy. However, I still highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a real Colombian dining...
