Butterbee's American Grille — Restaurant in Miami Township

My son got a free kid's meal coupon if I bought a meal, so he chose the chicken tender meal with waffle fries and root beer. I got the Old School Burger with coleslaw after also considering some of the other delicious-sounding meals. I asked about their onion "straws", which are like onion rings but cut thin and not as rings, and was told that the batter was also thin, so I ordered those as I'm always on the lookout for great onion rings!

First, my son's tenders were larger, well-battered, moist and tasty. His waffle fries were mildly spiced and flavorful, although a bit on the thin side compared to other places. He was very pleased with the quantity and really enjoyed it - after nearly an hour of him nibbling his way through it (I taught my kids to enjoy), I had to hurry him up.

My burger included a choice of cheeses (I got pepper-jack), and was garnished with purple onions, lettuce (probably iceberg), three slices of dill pickle and a thick slick of tomato. It was thick and juicy (they only allow for pink or not), but it didn't offer anything in the way of a special flavor. Despite the fact that the waitress said it's their most popular burger, I honestly feel that at $9.99 (including the coleslaw), I could've made 3 burgers at home that were exactly the same, but more flavorful, so I won't have it again. I should've taken one of the other options.

The coleslaw was in a class by itself. I'm used to slaw with a somewhat thicker tangy and sweet sauce, or the very thin, vinaigrette-ish sauce, but this was creamy, sweet and tasted of apple (from apple cider vinegar). It was a pleasure although the amount was too small. I'd love to eat it again if they'll be less frugal! ;)

The onion "straws" really are cut thin and I'm pretty sure there's more batter on them than onion to the point that you can't taste the onions. If you don't much like onions and love savory fried batter, then these are for you. I mentioned that I was disappointed and the waitress offered to take them off the bill (and take them away), which was fine with me.

The hostess and waitress were both nice and smiling, so we liked the service. My only gripe is that the walls are plastered with TVs - the majority of which were on one of two sports broadcasts, and I really don't like being at a restaurant where my attention is constantly being diverted by TVs. As a recovering screen addict (no joke), this is a big negative for me.

What a pleasant surprise when we stopped at an "unknown" restaurant for dinner late Tuesday night - about 10pm when other restaurants were closed, my Google Map showed me Butterbee's' was open til 11. I'm from Milford and visiting my parents from out of town, had seen this restaurant before and wondered if it was a chain or affiliated with another brand.

It was slow due to the hour, but very clean and we were greeted, seated and served promptly. I'm not a fan of Sports Bars, but I think I counted 15 big screen TV's. I ordered the Black & Blue Burger with waffle fries and my husband LOVES chicken tenders so he ordered the Chicken Tender Basket with a cup of potato soup. You never know what you are going to get at that hour with slow business at almost closing.

His chicken tenders looked like Fried Chicken - huge white meat chicken. I had to taste and it was aMAZing. My burger had the blackened flavor, fresh blue cheese, several butter pickles and the "fixings". I don't eat the bread but it was excellent. The waffle fries crisp right out of the friar. The manager came around (Katelyn) and I had to ask. It's a local restaurant that started with a store in Mt. Orab. They have opened one in Beechmont and then this one. It's clustered around the point of old & new 28, and Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road right by other restaurants, across from Kroger, in front of Meijer, down the street from Kohl's.

I came into eat Sunday night (September 21st). There was a group of five of us. We got our table and was greeted by our server. Her name was Lindsey/Lindsay. She got our drinks and took our order. After taking our order, she went to sit at the table right by us and chat with someone and eat, which was totally fine. However, we then waited 30+ minutes for food while she sat there on her phone and chatting. We were one of the only tables in the restaurant due to it being closer to closing time. She brings us our food and it was cold and dry. I am sure dry due to the fact it was sitting under a heat lamp for a long period of time. We all needed refills. A few of the people I was with, including myself, complained how the food was cold and she said it was fine and did not even offer a manager to come by our table. We ate cold food and could not even get refills. I still left a tip because I know servers only make a few dollars an hour. I usually love this place.
