World Famous House of Mac — Restaurant in Miami

The Food 5 stars: We had the Jerk Chicken Mac, the Lobster Mac with Shrimp added, and the Cheese pizza. We also had the homemade lemonades. All of it was VERY tasty especially the shrimp! The cheesy combination was absolutely pleasing to the palate!

The Service 1 star: This night the kitchen simply didn't have a clue of how to run a kitchen! My husband's food (Jerk) came out decently timed but since they only brought his, we told him to "go ahead and eat so it doesn't get cold". Little did we know that my daughter's food (simple cheese pizza) would come out 30 minutes later!!! Husband was done with his by the time that came out. And then there was my order....I KID YOU NOT ...it came out an hour and half AFTER my husband's food came. What kind of kitchen doesn't group the table's food together!? That was just absurd and downright disrespectful for a dinner together! One caveat, we did have a party of ten but I am only speaking to my little family's experience, but I will tell you of the 10, only 4 people got their food in a timely manner, the rest trickled out, and mine came out the absolute last. By the time I got my Lobster Mac with Shrimp, everyone else was done and ready to go, so I didn't really get to enjoy MY meal and I wasn't even hungry anymore!

The waiter rarely checked on us because the food came out so few and far between. We didn't get asked if we wanted drink refills, nothing. I know the wait staff has little to do with the kitchen cook disaster, but they could have checked on us to let us know what was going on with the food! And the waiter had to keep asking US what was missing from our orders.... absolutely unacceptable. To try to rectify the situation the waiter said that 15% would come off the bill per the manager. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! But at this point we didn't feel like arguing and we were ready to go and never come back! I came down to visit family in Miami. I am a vegetarian. And I decided that I wanted to try these vegan oxtails from the House Of Mac. I called them on Friday the 18th, but it was too late. It was understandable that they didn’t have any vegan oxtails.. Saturday morning on the 19th I called them and didn’t get an answer. I called a few times.. I arrived restaurant at 4:30pm. We sat down. I asked if they had vegan oxtails today.. The waiter told me they had none they’ve been out since yesterday. My family lives in Homestead, so this was a wasted trip for me. But I decided let me try. They have other options on the vegan menu… So I ordered the vegan impossible burger. That was pretty good, but nothing like oh wow I can make this at home. But the food was good. I’m disappointed because I didn’t get the vegan oxtails. I was looking forward to this.. But I had other family members With me, that’s not vegan. And they ordered the famous mac & cheese. I tried this, and I was so disappointed because I’ve heard so many good things about this place with the mac & cheese.. Let’s just say I was not satisfied. I’ve had better in my kitchen. I would not go back here again. it’s sad because my boyfriend always tell me I’m never satisfied when I get to a restaurant. It’s just that I expected this to be Wow ! And it wasn’t what I expected…. Maybe it was me , I’m a hard person to please when it comes down for food…. The lemonade was good, In the server was good.. 3 out of 5 - Here is why. I have wanted to come to the world famous house of Mac for a very long time. I frequently visit Wynwood, and I drive by all the time. Yesterday, I finally decided to stop by and see what all the hype was about. As soon as you walk through the door, the atmosphere is amazing. Music is good. The staff are very friendly and there was no wait to be seated, which is a plus to me. My best friend and I ordered lemon pepper wings and they were very, very tart. The minute that I bit the wing, I couldn't help but pucker my lips because they were just so sour! Too much lemon! I ended up ordering a second set of wings, which were garlic parmesan, and those were delicious. The wings were very good, and the sauces were tasty as well. I ordered the blueberry lemonade and also the fruit punch lemonade. The Lemonade's were amazing, and I actually ordered some to go. On to the lobster mac and cheese. Very disappointing. There was more SHELL in my Mac than there was Lobster. Every single by I took, there was a crunch, and then I was picking Lobster shell out of my mouth. That was not a very pleasant experience. The Mac was very cheesy, which was great, but it wasn't flavorful. I definitely wouldn't order that again, and I don't think it was worth the price tag for sure! $100 for 2 orders of wings and Lobster-ish Mac & cheese plus lemonade? No thanks.
