A buddy and i ate there Thursday night. Two Burgers and two soft drinks. When the screen showed the itemized bill it quickly changed to the tip menu. My buddy asked the portly short guy if the gratuity was included. At the same time that question was being asked the order receipt printed out and the employee answered “no, that’s just the order for the Sprites”. I didn’t clock that he didn’t answer the question. Later on we asked for the printed receipt and saw they added the 15% service charge and my buddy had left 18% on top effectively giving them 33% tip for counter service. They never brought our water to the table and we had to ask for ketchup and napkins. 33% for what service?? I wanted to have a conversation with the manager, but my friend is the type that prefers to stay quiet in situations like that, but I couldn’t. Some restaurants add service charges to the check, but they provide full table service.
I called later on that evening and spoke to a manager called Jesus. Explain to him what happened. He told me someone was gonna call me in the morning on Friday to issue a refund. Nobody called me on Friday. I called at several different times on Friday and no one answered the phone. OK they’re busy. I called again Saturday night, last night, and spoke with a girl called Patricia. I had asked to speak to the manager and she told me that he wasn’t there. I asked for the name of the manager and she told me she couldn’t give me his name for “security reasons”. I wasn’t asking for his private cell phone number or his home address. I was asking for his name. She kept telling me to call back in the morning to speak to a manager and I said well who would I ask for. She finally gave me some random name Pablo.
I called this morning at like 1015. Speak to Jesus again. He tells me to stop by that they’re gonna refund me the money because they can’t do it in the system digitally since they already closed out that day. That they would give me the refund in cash. I show up. It’s the same guy that scammed my friend that’s at the counter now and he’s trying to tell me that they’re only gonna refund the extra $10 that was left as the extra tip and not the bill in its entirety. I told him that’s not what I understood from Jesus, Can you please get them on the phone? No, he can’t do that because that’s his day off and that he wasn’t gonna issue me a full refund because I had consumed product. I said I spoke to him this morning so he was obviously here and you’re not Jesus so how are you gonna make decisions like you speak for him? This guy would not get him on the phone. He offered to call another manager or for me to speak with the manager That was there now. All this time you knew that I wanted to talk to a manager and it took us getting to this point for you to mention the one that’s here now? Yes, I’d like to talk to him.
The on shift manager shows up. The scammer is giving him a play-by-play of what it is that I want. He tries to make it seem like it’s ridiculous that I’m asking for a full refund when I consumed product and that Jesus wasn’t gonna refund me the full amount. I looked at the manager and told him that obviously there’s been some miscommunication, and since the scammer is not a manager and has no authority here that the only way to settle this, would be to talk to the person who set the expectation of the full refund. Call Jesus. The scammer, then tries to play the same angle acting like it ridiculous and I’m asking for a full refund. I tell him you guys received a 33% tip and did absolutely nothing for it and then you lied about it when asked directly. Now you want to take the stance that we consumed food so we’re not entitled to the full refund? You lied and then tried to cover it up!
It was at that point that several of their customers are starting to gather around listening, and it was only then that the scammer decided to stop talking and just issue the refund.
They have a racket going on there and have to be forced to do...
Read moreUnfortunately the experience myself and 12 other people that came with me just to come and try this place out was absolutely horrid. We came in around 1pm on labor day and they had ran out of anything Birria (the sole reason I wanted to try this place honestly). That was a huge letdown, but I opted for other items I wanted to try. When I say nothing tasted even remotely edible, that says a lot. The guac & chips were bland and greasy, the elote, not much flavor, chicken, al pastor tacos again lacking flavor, arepa platter, burger, etc . I tried the picanha cachapa and after one bite it was just full of disappointment. My family and friends all tried various items from the menu and not a single person enjoyed their food. It also took an extremely long time to even receive our items, and honestly I'm patient with that kind of stuff. At the end my little sister ordered a mango juice which took 20 minutes to get out because the person making it forgot, she threw it out shortly after drinking, because EVERYTHING LACKED ANY FORM OF FLAVOR. I don't know if they were having an off day as they have many great reviews, but this was a really bad food experience I have had in such a long time. The price did not match what they offer. Luckily I got a full refund for my food items and left them their tip. The woman taking our order was truly very nice...
