In the past, I had the pleasure of trying Mixie Noodles via Door Dash. However, I am very disappointed with the service that I received yesterday when I decided to place a to go order.
When I entered the restaurant, no one greeted me although all three staff members saw me enter the establishment as I was the only person there. I only wanted some chicken broth; it's very decadent I might add, so I decided to purchase two of them since I wanted a large size. The total was $8, I paid with my debit card, and patiently waited.
While I was waiting for my order, I watched the cook playing with the utensil with his fingers that was being used to prepare my broth. I informed the person who placed my order what I observed, and the cooked looked at me like he knew he was busted. I requested a refund for unsanitary reasons of course, and the manager shook his head as if I was making a big deal out of nothing.
I gave him my card that I used to place the refund, and once completed, I requested a copy of my receipt. He seemed as if he was appalled that I asked for my receipt, and gave a smirk. After the fourth try, he was able to print out a piece of paper, and cut off a thin strip of the receipt that said "refund $4". Had I not asked for a receipt, I wouldn't of known they didn't refund my $8. The manager had the audacity to say that something is wrong with my card, and he sarcastically stated that it's only for $8.
At this point, my patience was dwindling, and for him to have the mitigated gall to say that's it's only $8 was mind blowing. I told him yes, it's only $8, but it's my $8 that I work hard for, and please don't patronize me. I told him how I had tried their food before via Door Dash, and that I left a review bragging on how good and fresh their food was. I told him that I decided to come in and support their business, but due to me witnessing the staff member using his fingers to play with the cooking utensils (in front of the customer), and request a refund, which I only received half of, gets insulted because it's only a "measly $8", left me completely baffled.
Please note that at least 5 minutes had gone by, and I still haven't received my refund. The manager stated that something was wrong with my card, but I told him my card worked perfectly fine to pay for it, and here's the receipt to prove it. At this point, I was over it, and told him to just give me my refund, and he would never see me again. I asked for corporate number, but he wouldn't give it to me, so I told him to call the police because I was done speaking with him.
As he is trying to figure out how to work the register/POS machine (clearly this was the problem), another staff member walked up to the manager and pulled his wallet out, and asked if he could just give her the $4, but the manager would not allow him to. I personally thanked the gentleman for his professionalism for trying to resolve and de-escalate the situation. I told him that he should be the manager, get a raise, and/or a promotion.
This seemed to trigger the "manager" because he became pompous by stating I'm the manager, I'm a boss! True story, lol. I told him that he should really consider taking a refresher course in training; specifically customer service, get demoted, and/or take notes from his staff member. Instead of him taking accountability and being humble, and not allowing his staff member to try and resolve the issue, he'd rather argue with a customer. I know it was only $8, now $4, but it's the principle. I was a customer who was supporting their business, who requested a refund due to cook displaying unsanitary behavior, but I digress.
After 20 wasted minutes of my life that I will not get back, he allowed the nice young man to give me the $4 cash, and I personally thanked him. May GOD bless him and his family. He's going to go far in his career because of his great managerial and customer service skills. I went to Pho District and was treated much nicer. By the way, the picture is what I was given for my receipt for the $4 refund. What a joke!...
Read moreYou start w/ choosing a broth and they have about 7-9 to choose from, a few being spicy. Then you pick your noodle (ramen, udon, fung (described as a rice noodle), or green veg). Next is the protein, ending w/ your choice of three veggies. I am in no way an expert on noodle bowls, but I am somewhat familiar w/ ramen. I figured I’d start w/ the basics. The owner was very helpful w/ trying to explain some items, though I did question the accuracy in some cases. But despite that, I got the miso chicken broth w/ ramen noodles, beef flank, corn, wood ear (crunchy mushroom), and greens. I asked if the greens were like green onions. She said no, and described them as a leafy green. I said, “oh like a bok choy?”, she said no….however, when I got back to the office, they were baby bok choy. Anywho…..
I thought the miso chicken broth was very flavorful. Owner said they simmer for 12-hours. I would most likely not get the beef flank again. It was a rolled meat that had been flattened. Their version of beef flank as its made in-house. Their roast pork is made similar according to the owner. The veggies were good w/ the wood ear providing a little crunch and even the baby bok choy rounded out my bowl. I also tried their Japanese pop called Ramune. They had a few flavors and I told her to surprise me, so she gave me the blue Hawaii. It was good….your typical blue soda, like a Faygo. I will say it was interesting opening it. There are actual instructions on the side of the bottle on how to open. One of the workers offered to show me how to open it and once its opened, just know, there is no way to put the genie back in the bottle, meaning no way to close it. Why there is a marble in the bottle is a mystery as well.
Bottom line, if you are not familiar w/ ramen (and enjoy your cup-o-noodles at home), it’s a decent place to try if you want to get your feet wet. But know there are better places out there. You just need to get the right combination. Since winter is coming, I will go back at some point and try the Tonkatsu broth and maybe one of the spicy broths as it could have used a...
Read moreWe wanted to like this place. The decor was great for a strip mall restaurant. We walked in… the young lady was very pleasant at the counter. She took our order and gave us our cups. Our first clue that this might not go well was they had to give us ice from the back. Then we went to the fountain and got our drinks and everything was flat! We fold her and she claimed it was because of the ice. However she never offered to give us anything else. We then waited for our food. After about 5 minutes she came to our table to ask if I wanted my Christmas sushi fried or plain. I said fried… she then told me it would be an extra $1 so I declined. Then our food came out and my roll was decent however my daughter chixken hibachi bowl and wives beef hibachi were plain. No flavor, it’s like they never put any seasoning in it. We did our best to eat it but left with 3/4 of each meal. We were very disappointed… hopefully they will make corrections and make better food if they...
