I have been to this location several times in the past, and always with my daughter. This is a place I take her for a special treat. Today we went and ordered some strawberry drinks. As we approached the counter we were asked what we wanted. My daughter placed her order and pointed to the picture of strawberry popping bobas on the menu taped to the countertop, I did the same. After placing our order we were asked if the order was correct. I looked at the tiny screen and was puzzled why the total was $15 and there was only one drink on the screen. I touched the screen and scrolled to find the other drink. I told the lady "I guess the order is right." I didn't pay attention to the itemized order, just that there were 2 drinks on there. We had a seat and waited patiently while our drinks were being made. Fast forward... our drinks get made and we pick them up. My daughter instantly notices the drinks were made with jelly and not the popping bobas. My heart sank. I told the lady we ordered the drinks with the popping bobas and not the jelly. Her reply was, "didn't you verify the order?" I didn't argue with her. I simply told her i would never come back and I was going to leave a review. I thought about this transaction all the way home. I will go ahead and accept responsibility for the bungled order, I was asked if the order was correct. I'm sorely disappointed this is how the experience turned out. I would've never thought the cashier would bungle our drinks after pointing to a picture taped on the counter next to the register. I would think if the customer showed confusion they would read the order back to ensure order accuracy. I learned a $15.05 lesson today. It's important to note I didn't consume the beverage in question. I poured it out. I'm human, just as the cashier is, and understand mistakes happen. I'm disappointed this is how it turned out. My daughter went ahead and drank her drink, but it just wasn't the same. This location lost me as a customer, not because of the misunderstanding, but because of how it was handled. Final thought... If you are going to hold the customer liable for order inaccuracy then post a sign saying so. Having the customer read a small screen with the order broken up into individual items only the clerks understand is nonsense. I'm glad I didn't pre-tip...
Read moreThis place is hit or miss. Their product is good, but their service is questionable. I have visited this place during their posted business hours, and it has been closed. I recently purchased a boba tea and a matcha boba tea. When the teas were finished, we noticed that the boba pearls were missing and alerted the worker to that observation. She tapped on the cup and stated “look at the tag…you didn’t pay for it”. …But we ordered it…so it was clearly an error. Then we asked if the boba could be added to which she replied “that will be a dollar”… I asked if she could put it on a charge card …to which she replied “we have a $5 minimum card charge”…so I asked if she could cancel the previous transaction and recharge everything together …and her response was “no..only a manager can do that”. The entire transaction was frustrating because this was THEIR clerk’s error. I finally found change in my car and was able to add boba to the tea. I understand that mistakes happen, but good customer service goes a long way in how people view your store. The people at the Yumi Boba in the Greene are outstanding. I attempted to come into the store before close, I was pulling into their parking lot and was told they would turn me away, even though it was before 8. They suggested I “come back tomorrow”. When an establishments hours are posted until 8, I would assume if they stop taking orders it would be posted plainly somewhere—it is not. I am disappointed in the lack of consideration for the customer. The person on the phone was nice, but nonetheless, I was told I would be turned away even though I would arrive prior to close.
