After just eating an amazing Burrito at The Mad Taco - I wanted to have something sweet. I stumble across Otter Creek Bakery. The young lady at the counter was pleasant and service was excellent.
This is a quaint little bakery - I am very one-track minded when entering a bakery - All trains must lead to chocolate! My blood type is Hershey's Positive. So, I didn't even look elsewhere in the display cases which had many other lovely items. - let others be the judge of those.
I asked for her for her most chocolate experience. It was either a cookie or one of the muffins. I got the Smores and the Other one (I forgot which it was). Order total was $11 for 2 muffins.
They were okay - But, honestly not memorable. The muffin base was heavy and a bit dry. The smores muffin had a nice graham cracker bottom and a marshmellow top - which made the muffin fun and enjoyable to eat. It had a mixture of flavor which gave this dessert experience a nice treat. The other muffin I forgot what is was - So, like I said, it was okay - just not memorable.
I enjoyed sitting in the patio area under a nice shade. The muffins satisfied my need to get some chocolate into my bloodstream. However, this was not an "over-the-top"...
Read moreI was torn between a 4 and a 5. Firstly, the parking is trash. I hate parallel parking. Hate it so much. Side of the road parking makes me feel like I'm taking over the street. The sandwich options are so overwhelming but they do list them in a way that makes chaotic sense. There are also baked good options (bakery and deli, imagine that). I got an oat bar that has a nice creamy something to it. My boyfriend got a Magic Bar (also known as a Hello Dolly in my family/community). The sandwiches, they do not skimp by any means. The price is a bit up there, I think it was late $30 something, but thats for a Vermonter and a Otter Creek sub, Magic Bar, Oat Square, and Cocoa Granola. So very reasonable broken down. The employees went into the lines to ask what did they want to move everything smoothly. There are little pagers for people to wait outside, in two covered porches. The one down by the street is quaint, classic New England/Vermont store front picnic table. All in all, really good. A lot of options. Overwhelmingly so. The number of options might be the only reason I knock it down to 4.5, too much going on. Not necessarily bad, just hard when...
Read moreTried the Otter Creek "Sub" and it was a nice take on a regular sandwich, the hot peppers and pickles were overpowering the "Italian oil". Decent baguette. Croissants were sold out, so might have to come back and try those. Chai latte was ok. The let down was when I paid for my order to go, the minimum tip option was 18% which came out to $4.96. I changed it to $2 and the cashier gave me a dirty look, and grabbed back the machine and handed me a "buzzer" as if I just spat in their faces. Tipping by % should be reserved for waiters/waitresses who provide an extensive service throughout a dining experience, and depends on the...
