This is honestly the worst restaurant experience in my life. With Matata it's either a hit or miss. Half of the time my food is good and then the other half it's poorly made and usually burnt. That isn't even my biggest issue, their customer service is absolutely horrible, they treat their customers very badly. I just got off the phone with Matata's manager after arguing for about 30 minutes. I ordered a bento box but instead was given the "dinner order" because most customers get dinner orders and to next time call instead of order online because the orders are "too long" after getting nowhere I was hung up on despite me saying "wait! hold on!" I call back and continue to try sorting this problem out by her saying "what do you want me to do" repeatedly and me giving her the answer that I'd like the bento box in exchange she would not accept my answer but finally says she'll send out the bento box instead but I would have to wait a couple of hours. Hours later I receive a call from Matata's Manager and she says, I quote "You made mistake, not us." and I responded saying "Great way to treat your customers, I'm never ordering here again." and then she says "No problem!" And hangs up. I called back a bit later asking to speak to the manager (because at that point I was assuming she was just an employee) but she was the manager and said that despite me being wrong she will send me the bento box, I thanked her and calmly explained to her the difference between their online menu and their hard copy, online menu having the bento box option for teriyaki salmon which I ordered on, I even have an online receipt she mid sentence hangs up. Matata ripped me off and did not give me what...
Read moreThere is no better Asian cuisine in the Monmouth county than Matata. The menu is filled with a wide palette of choices. There is food from so many different cultures, such as Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Japanese. Each which are all packed with flavor.
It may be hard to find at first but once you find it its very easy to find. Matata has a nice modern theme. The flooring is a dark wood with the matching color tables. The seats and booths also perfectly match with the tables. The place is very clean and has enough room to be comfortable. In the background a soft music which is just at the right volume and is very soothing.
When you first enter Matata you are greeted with a smile and a “how are you today”. The hostess is very polite and shows you your table. Then a waitress comes. Throughout the whole dinner the waitress doesn't barge in to your meal too much, but she still comes in in a comfortable way. She is also very polite and is dressed formally.
Right when you get your food, it is so well decorated that you don't want to mess it up. Even though it looks pretty it also looks so good. Every time I ordered a dish it tasted amazing. One time I had a snow mountain roll, a spicy girl roll, and other assorted sushi. The sushi was very fresh and the special rolls were even better. The flavors were like a bomb in you mouth. Both of the special rolls had a nice crunchy top.
Overall, Matata is a great restaurant that never disappoints. The food is great. The decor is beautiful. And the...
Read moreI ordered take out from here to my job, the food was great but the delivery driver was the worst. I tip when my food gets delivered and I never carry cash. So I always tip on my card. Well he said “you don’t have cash for tip?” And told me I can’t tip on the card I paid with, usually you sign and tip when it’s delivered when you use a card. He was upset I did not have cash and said he will call when he gets back to restaurant and ask for my card number for tip, not even 2 minutes later my phone was called 3 times. I will never order from here again, I worked in the food service industry for 10+ years and a tip is not required and you cannot demand cash. This was very upsetting. I would have tipped more if it was...
