We haven’t even left the restaurant’s parking lot and I had to submit this review. Tonight was our first time at any of the Miller’s Ale House locations and it will be our last. We tried the Langhorne location, as were on a family vacation and it was recommended by the hotel front desk associate. Now, we wish we would have researched other locations.
When we arrived, we have a 25 minute wait which was fine as we just wanted a great experience and great food. Based on the fact that it was a Tuesday, I was hopefully that it was a sign that we had picked the right place. The text message came that our reservation/table was ready and we were escorted to the cold patio bar area with a 6 year old. The reservation definitely indicated that we had a child, why was that the selection. I declined and requested a table within the restaurant over at least 9 open booths.
We were relocated by the hostess who made it a point to inform us that it was only her second day and she didn’t know if they would allow us to move. Well, I explained that if “they” had an issue, we would be fine with finding another dinner location. Table 31 was our new dining home for the evening.
Not fond of being right at the bar and kitchen pick up location; we dealt with it and was just ready for a great meal after a fun-filled day at Sesame Place. Our server (will refrain from naming) game over with a mediocre greeting and never introduced himself. He took our drink orders and I then asked him his name, though I could read it on his name tag. Being accustomed to restaurant service at home, I don’t think it’s hard to say your name during the intro.
Got passed that and then added appetizers. Even when asking their recommendations on items after indicated that this was our first visit, the response was no help.
Moved on and still worked to make the best of the situation. Drinks came and were a 3 out of 10. Never complained, just ordered another menu cocktail for me and everyone else kept the original pitcher. Apps came and were a 6/10. At that point we were skeptical of ordering the entrees. But with a hungry child who had already selected their entree, we ordered. Food was a 5/10 and that was after I had to remind the server that a requested item was never brought or added to one of the entrees.
Finally we were over it and asked for the check. Bagged what we wanted, paid and left. Even upon the our exit the TWO hostesses standing at the front check-in desk looked us dead in our faces and never said a word. No, “Thank you for coming. Have a good evening.” Or, “Hope you enjoyed. Good night”.
So, I made it a point to share this experience. Crazy thing, there’s a location close to our residence that we looked at while we were waiting for our table and said we would try. Nope.
I’ll research better options....
Read moreWorse yet , not one person bothered to contact me regarding my concerns .Ordered take out for myself & husband , then my son & his wife asked me to call another order in for them. Upon ordering I asked for total on both and was given the TOTAL amounts for both. When I picked it up,it was more for each of them. I questioned the woman who told me it is because the take out line doesn't include taxes or " packaging fees" I mentioned that was a good idea since with having family in serving business I know how many folks don't tip the take out employees, esp with Uber & door dash drivers usually being the tipped. She then mentioned that the money doesn't go to them.I asked what it was for then but she didn't know . I understand they have the containers but they aren't spending that extra money on dishwashing, extra servers, and it keeps tables inside open to have more customers . Since no other places charge " packaging fees" & it isn't mentioned or told to customers prior I find it ridiculous . Also have never asked for a total ANYWHERE and not been given the true total. They always include taxes, delivery fees etc . But that wasn't the worst part. I ordered broccoli as my side and KID YOU NOT , there was LITERALLY 2 PIECES of broccoli. I don't mean the whole stalk and flower, just two florets . My husband got a Caesar side salad which consisted of romaine lettuce. No croutons, no cheese, not even dressing on it or on the side . Just a small container of cut up lettuce . But the worst was my son got calamari. Him & his wife order it when they dine in ALL THE TIME. So they know how much they get . What they sent them was almost nothing . He even asked me if I ate any which I didn't . There was just so little. We have gone to millers for years & I have had many work events which I've hosted over the years for my doctors groups , but we have decided as a family to choose a new place. I have gotten take out from Olive garden for work many times and get Sternos, shafing trays, the flames, the plates, cups, etc. All packed up and placed in nice heavy box NEVER ONCE being charged for " packaging fees" They have never cut back on the amount of food for take out vs done in either. ( This is just 1 example ) Only ordered take out at millers 1 × prior and after arriving waited over 25 minutes for someone to come ring me up and the food sat there getting cold the entire time . I went to hostess twice before asking for manager who FINALLY came over to ring me out & even two couples sitting at table back by bar had told him I was waiting so long that they just sat as I arrived , ordered and half way done their meals . He didn't offer to get me fresh hot food or deduct anything . So it's a mess anymore especially...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are new to the area. We loved the Miller’s by our old house, so we decided to give this location a try! The hosts were very pleasant, seating us timely - we had high hopes at this point. After being seated, our waitress, Emily, had greeted us and taken our drink orders. Maybe she was having a bad day, as we all do sometimes, but something just seemed off - she didn’t have much to say, didn’t ask how we were doing, and we could barely hear her she spoke so soft. I should mention we were sitting right next to the full bar with football games on every television - it’s already hard enough to hear. We order our drinks and put in two appetizers - spinach dip and chicken quesadillas. Spinach dip is a favorite of mine, and did not disappoint - well done! Chicken quesadillas on the other hand were not very good - the peppers were burnt to a crisp while the sautéed onions were practically still raw. The dish was also covered in grease; the quesadillas dripped as you picked them up. Needless to say we took a few bites each and did not finish them. For dinner I had the lobster ravioli and filet with mashed potatoes and a side salad. My boyfriend had the cajun chicken pasta - this dish was pretty tasty other than the excess oil, and he enjoyed it as well. As for my ravioli, besides not being as saucy as I expected, they were fabulous. I ordered my filet medium well, and according to color, should’ve been perfect. This steak was so tough I could not even poke my fork into the top to hold it still to cut it - a filet should not be this tough even at medium well. Also, the garlic butter that’s supposed to come on top of the steak was nothing but whipped butter, as if I was supposed to butter my steak with every bite as you would a dinner roll. This would’ve been okay if my steak was still hot, or even warm because it would’ve melted, but the food was cold by the time it was brought to us. The mashed potatoes had a hardened ring around them and the gravy had filmed over and started to congeal. Our server hadn’t come to check on us since our food was delivered, and I had to flag her down to at least bring me A1 sauce to make the filet more tolerable. We decided we didn’t want to sit there any longer and ordered our dessert to go. About 15 minutes goes by before out server comes back to ask us, “did they bring out your dessert yet?” to which we said no. Overall not a good experience, but would definitely give a...
