Good Evening Google Family. Our family visited The Rooster Diner after seeing a wonderful movie of Wakanda, Forever at the Main Street movie theater in Manayunk, PA. The movie was absolutely fabulous with many tributes to Chadwick Boseman. I enjoyed it and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. My mother and brother were along. We decided on the Rooster Diner since we have never patronized it. I have passed by it numerous times and never stopped. I believe there was a time when it was closed. But thankfully now it is open for Business!! Before we visited on Saturday, November the 12th, I called to confirm that they were open. I spoke with a young lady named Taren and Taren assured me that they were open. I told her that we would be visiting after viewing the movie. When we arrived at the Diner, there were not many other patrons there. WE arrived around 3:16 PM. But when we left around 5PM, people were starting to come in. It was dark by the time we left, with the Daylight Saving time ending. I love it because we have gained an extra hour of Sleep, Whoo hoo!!! My mom ordered her usual Broiled tilapia since I had asked Taren did they carry Tilapia. My mom was happy. My brother ordered the broiled seafood combination and I ordered stuffed mushrooms. We all cleaned our plates and my brother usually asks for a box to take his food home. WE started out with a soup or salad and we decided on, all of us asked for chicken noodle soup. For our sides, my mom had apple sauce and mashed potatoes with turkey gravy on the side. My brother had carrots and apple sauce. My two sides were baked potato with butter on the side and asparagus spears. I enjoyed my dinner. Everything was great and we will return. Milo was our server and he did not disappoint. He was great and Taren was great as well!! I recommend The Rooster Diner* Our total order was $68.86. I enjoyed the ambience of the diner. There were two restrooms that were singles and they were side to side. They were both clean. Every one in the diner seemed nice. The diner is a nice size place with plenty of booths and tables to choose from. I forgot to mention, Google, that the Rooster Diner opens from 7 AM to 9 PM every day. It's not open at 6 AM like the take out menu specifies....
Read moreI've only eaten here once (today) but I think that they're good enough to definitely consider making The Rooster Diner the go to place for the holiday dinners with my brother and, quite possibly going there most of the time that I take my brother out to eat. The diner's very close to my brother's residence. The staff was very nice to us, considerate and thoughtful. My brother's severely mentally disabled and, since the pandemic started and Friendly's going out of business as a result, I've been very worried about where I could take my brother that'd be as welcoming to John as Friendly's had been. We've never had any instances of restaurants or other businesses being nasty to us or unwelcoming, but, sadly, I've heard a few horror stories of people who are disabled being discriminated against by individuals and/or businesses, especially in the last few years. That's not something that I want to ever experience and I don't want John to go through that either. John seemed quite happy with his salad, soup and turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and almost completely obliterated it. As for me, my prime rib was a little dry but not bad at all. I think that the next time I'll ask if they have A-1 steak sauce or Worcestershire. He was also quite happy with his Pepsi (he almost always wants Coke but I've told him before that some restaurants don't carry it and he'll have to have Pepsi instead). I had sweet tea which was very good. As for dessert, we both had chocolate mousse which we both loved. The meal was, give or take, about the same price that I've paid for Thanksgiving dinners for John and myself and definitely a good bit more expensive than I'd normally pay for a standard meal with John. But I think that it's worth it to have someplace that's close, has good food and good people...
Read moreOn first impression, the menu is basic. Nothing terribly creative, and it's pretty pricey for what is offered.
Another Google review talked about Scrapple Fries, and we were excited to try those. For 6.99, they didn't seem worth it. It was 1 thick slice of scrapple cut into strips and deep fried - it came with what tasted like a thick salad dressing, which didn't really match the flavors well.
The eggs Benedict with extra crispy hashbrowns and Waffle combo with eggs over easy came out đPERFECTđ. I can honestly say I've never been served more perfectly cooked eggs, and my hash browns were actually crispy on both sides without being burnt.
The service was ok. Once our food was delivered, our server didn't come by til we were just about finished, so our water went unrefilled for most of our meal and we had to stop the busser for hot sauce.
It is loud like a train station in there. I know it's a busy dinner, but there is nothing to help dampen the sound. It echos everywhere, and I struggled to hear my husband at my table. There were quite a few cameras installed for a diner, they even had a sign posted at the front alerting to the cameras with audio surveillance. I didn't realize that area was that high in crime to be...
