Good food, and drinks at less then pizza shop prices!
Went here with my friend for dinner. First let's be clear here. This is definitely what I world consider a dive bar. That should not stop you from going here to eat though. Because despite the fact that they have a pool table, and a crowd of regular drinkers. Everybody is friendly here. And while it is a local type of place (I'm a local and I knew half the people there). It's also right by the beach. So they have all sorts of people from all over come here. It's not the type of place where you're treated bad, because you're not "one of them" so to speak. That being said. I suggest you check any attitude you might have at the door. It won't go over very well here at all. You will get called out for it. This is a no nonsense place from top to bottom.
With that out of the way. I have a feeling most people will be a little surprised at how good the food is here. This is a top notch place to get some food. It's not fancy in the least, and you're not getting curried tofu, or some other fancy schmantzy/modern type food. It's straight up biker bar style food. And it's done very well. The cook who served me my food looked like a cook you'd see in a biker bar, and he also looked like a really good cook. Or maybe he just acted that way. Either way. He was obviously very proud of the food he puts out. And trust me when I tell you. He has every right to be.
This place is VERY reasonable! Definitely not regular overpriced Newport nonsense. They run specials, and have $9.95 prime rib on Wednesday and Thursday. Monday is $1.00 pizza day (12" tortilla pizza?) w/$1 toppings. Taco Tuesday follows w/ $1 tacos. I went on a Monday, and got the NY Sirloin special ($12.95 w/potato and veg) with homemade mashed, and corn. Steak was a smidge more done then the med rare I asked for, but was perfectly seasoned. Actually everything was. A real good sign that the dude who cooked it knows his stuff. My friend had trouble deciding, as did I until I smelled someone else's steak, so she went with her first instinct which was the Philly cheese steak. And did not regret it in the least.
The first words out of her mouth after taking a bite were "Mmm this is delicious!". It came with a big pile of fries that were a speck overdone for her taste. I liked them that way. They're nice thin fries. Her sandwich was huge! Had to be about 8 ounces of steak plus veggies on a small grinder roll. So a large grinder's worth of steak in a small roll. The cheese was tossed throughout the mixture. She couldn't finish her meal ($7.95 BTW), and neither could I. But it wasn't for lack of trying believe me. She had 3 draught beers, and I got a soda. Total was $33 and change! Oh, and my steak was very big. Probably 12 ounces, or more. Damn well may have been a pound. And very juicy too. Highly recommended. A SOLID 4 stars.
Almost forgot. They do a very reasonably priced breakfast here on Saturday and Sunday till noon. I think it starts at 8:30am. And yes they'll serve you a Bloody Mary with your food on a Sunday morning if you're feeling the effects of the night before. Or if you just want one for the heck of it. And they also do take out too. So if you're not feeling social. You can just call ahead and go pick it up. And there's a parking lot there too. And parking can get tough around there in the Summer. So this...
Read moreMy family and I went to Rusty’s after a beach outing. The bartender as 1st had this look of panic on her face cause we were a party of 16. She told us that due to having one cook the food would take a while. We were ok with waiting cause they were pool tables and great music to listen too till we got our food. The bartender Limsey (I think that’s her name) was also our waitress and I most say she did a great job in getting our food and drinks right. She was really nice and attentive to our needs. The food and drinks was great along with the price. The bill came out to a little over $200.00 dollars for all of us. I also want to mention we had kids so they are a kid friendly place as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some cheap drinks...
Read moreIf your in Florida and your from New England, do not come here looming for fresh seafood. Everything is frozen and taste like cardboard. I was extremely dissapointed in the service as well. We waitwd 45 minutes for a rablw, which on a Saturday niggt is typical. When we were finally seated, waiter actually sat down at our table to take our order. I thought this was quite unprofessional to say the least. When orders arrived , almost everything was wrong.......
