My husband and I went to KPot for the first time last night without our kids. I’ve been wanting to try it, he was not as enthusiastic. Turns out, he was right. There was no wait for us when we went in and they asked if it was our first time and we said yes. They stamped “First Time” on the paper and we were promptly sat. I was like, oh good, they do the first time stamp so our server can guide us. I was already intimidated, I tried to “study” before going and there’s just so much info, that I got even more overwhelmed. I was was a little more at ease with that stamp. Our server basically said, “just have fun” handed me the tablet and said, send your order to the kitchen when you are done. Like what? Can you guide me? Give me some pointers? HELP! All he suggested was to try both since it was our first time, but don’t order too much or we will charge you for food waste. So I was terrified to order thinking, is this too much? We got our order submitted and went to the sauce bar where several things were not labeled and we sat down and waited. That’s when it became chaotic. They bring your food out on carts, oh, but it’s not at once. They will drop off a random raw meat, no labels, you have no clue what it is, so you have to get back on the tablet to try to find the picture to see if it matches. Then they will bring a couple of more plates of meat, again, no labels. They have other tables orders on the cart as well, so it’s literally a drive by and they are gone before you can ask. They had all of our hot pot ingredients on the table for 20 minutes, no broth, while all the tables that sat down after us were already cooking all of their foods, hot pot and bbq. No drinks at our table, that took 20 minutes too. Our server was so absent that several people stopped and asked if we’d seen our server yet. And when we got our bill, it was $94 for a sweet tea, a soda and 2 hot pots and bbq’s. Like what??? It was not an enjoyable experience. They crowd your table with all the plates, you barely have room to move and if a dude named Aaron is your server, he won’t be at your table often and he won’t offer any help whether it’s cooking tips or ordering. Use your $100 elsewhere and enjoy a night out at a nicer restaurant. I get it, it’s for the experience, but when your experience is not a good one, it sucks. Our server told us in the beginning, “I know you’ll be back”, no, no we won’t. The $100 we spent there and the $60 we spent for our kids to be taken care of so we could enjoy a rare night out, could have been spent...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yo, KPOT isn’t just a restaurant—IT’S A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE—and that’s 100% thanks to Malaya. I went in expecting some good food, but I didn’t know I’d be walking out with my life saved and my faith in humanity restored.
Picture this: I’m grilling some meat, vibing, when suddenly, disaster strikes. A rogue piece of shrimp flips off the grill, lands on the edge of my napkin, and BOOM—it’s like I set off a fireworks show. Flames everywhere. I’m frozen, thinking, "This is it. This is how it ends." But then, like an action hero straight out of a movie, Malaya slides in out of nowhere, grabs a fire extinguisher, and takes care of business. No hesitation, no fear—just straight-up boss energy.
But it doesn’t stop there. Just when I thought I could relax, I nearly choke on my dumpling from laughing too hard at how clutch Malaya was. And guess what? She saves me AGAIN. Hits me with the Heimlich like she’s been training her whole life for this moment. I mean, who does that? Absolute legend.
And let’s not forget the food—Malaya made sure everything was on point the entire time. Broth? Refilled before I even noticed it was low. Grill? Cleaned so fast it was practically sparkling. Need a new plate? She’s already got it in her hand like, “Don’t even trip, I got you.”
Malaya’s the kind of person you want in your corner—whether it’s for a meal, an emergency, or just to make your day 10x better. If you’re hitting up KPOT and Malaya isn’t your server, you might as well turn around and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for being the real MVP, Malaya. You didn’t just serve food—you served hero vibes, bro energy, and unforgettable memories. KPOT is lucky to have you, and so are we. Respect, bro....
