We ordered two entrees and one starter for dinner — underwhelming high priced dishes served with a cheap dining experience.
Over $50 dinner at the end but seemed more like a $25 value.
We won’t be taking another gamble for dinner here and unlikely to try the American Chinese cuisine served during lunch.
Hunan Style Stir-Fried Beef - $19 - Smaller portion in bowl, no steamed rice or sides, common soft/boiled Chinese beef cuts. The spicy brown sauce was quite good with peppers and ginger. Not worth near the $19 price, also unrecognizable to menu photo.
Yangzhou Fried Rice - $15 - Decent sized portion on plate, diced mushroom and egg, some nice prep but tossed with low quality frozen shrimp, not a nice touch. Overall quite bland fried rice. Would not recommend.
Gyoza - $8, 8 pieces - Served on small plate, small generic frozen gyoza. I’ve actually had higher quality gyoza from the grocery store. It was served with no chili oil but a small plastic to-go cup of some bottled sauces. $4 value, a cash grab starter and I would assume the other starters will be a similar experience.
Atmosphere - Not busy later into a Saturday evening, 3-4 tables. One speaking Chinese which was nice. I wondered if the owner wanted to present as high end but it looked rushed, tacky choices, poor paint work bad enough to comment on - paint on scones, didn’t even care to edge, some peeling. Minimal care shown and these details can at times be revealing about the owner. The booths and table were comfortable with lots of room.
Service - Odd. Entrees served one at a time, so we were kind of forced to split them, that’s okay. We assumed they forgot the gyoza, but it arrived at the end when we were ending the meal.
I will say that even if expensive, some of the more ‘authentic’ Chinese dishes may appeal to those who cannot find them elsewhere, I do...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but Mr. Feng’s Chinese Food absolutely deserves high stars! If you’re craving authentic Hunan cuisine, this place is a hidden gem you need to try. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed—the atmosphere is cozy and clean, and the staff is super friendly and attentive.
Let’s talk about the food. I ordered the Steamed Fish Head with Chopped Chili (剁椒鱼头), Braised Pork Belly (红烧肉), and the Farmer’s Special Stir-Fry (农家一碗香)—and every single dish was spot-on. The fish head was incredibly tender and soaked up all that spicy, savory chopped chili sauce. The red chili oil had heat but was so well balanced with flavor that I couldn’t stop eating. The Braised Pork Belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with just the right amount of sweetness and richness. And the Farmer’s Stir-Fry was packed with smoky wok flavor, with a mix of meats and vegetables that reminded me of home-style cooking in China.
I really appreciated how Mr. Feng’s stays true to traditional Hunan flavors—bold, spicy, and aromatic, without being overly greasy or Americanized. The portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair considering the quality and authenticity of the food.
If you’re in the mood for hearty, spicy, and comforting Chinese food that goes beyond your typical takeout, Mr. Feng’s is the place to go. I’m already planning my next visit—and bringing friends so we can try more dishes....

For starters, the customer service wasn't great. They sat us down and after 10 minutes they ask us what we wanted to drink, we told them and told them we were also ready to order and the waitress said drinks first. She left and didn't come back until another 10 minutes to take our order.
On top of the 20 minutes of waiting. It took them 30 minutes to come out with our food. They never came back to ask for a refill, napkins or check if we needed anything. I went up to the front asking for a refill and she said okay and never came back. It wasn't until I went up again with my cup when she gave me a refill.
We ordered the special pho. For $20 per bowl , it was not worth it, it was mostly noodles and little meat / broth. It also had a strong fish sauce smell and didn't have flavor.
We also ordered the pork in soy sauce and it was REALLY sweet, so if you're more into sweet food , this is for you. It didn't come with rice or anything just the pork.
Overall experience, it wasn't...
