I needed some work done to my wedding set including ring resizing, replacing a melee stone and welding my band and engagement ring together. When I took it in, they tested it to make sure it was a real diamond and gold in order to take it in, it was real and they took it in to do all the work. They wonât take it if itâs not real.
My ring was there for a couple of days when my husband gets a call from them that when they were working on it, their laser âaccidentallyâ went right across my center stone and they wanted us to come look at it. We did and the laser damaged my center stone bad. They offered to get me a stone as close as they can to my original center stone for free since they were the ones who made the mistake. I agreed and left it with them again. My original stone was a genuine 1 ct diamond.
When I got it back, it looked good to the naked eye and I trusted them as a good jeweler with a good reputation, so I didnât look very hard and didnât have them test it in front of me. I asked if they could give me some paperwork for the new stone and they said no I would need to get the entire ring reappraised at an appraisal event or ship it to them through the mail and fill out a form. So I left with my ring and no paperwork and was planning to get it appraised.
I went to another jeweler a little over a year later (life got busy and to someone who doesnât know jewelry, it looked fine) when the jeweler went to test my center stone, IT WASNT REAL! it was cubic zirconia! I was furious. Looking at my ring further, the jeweler said they did a terrible job with the resizing and the band was thinner than it was supposed to be, the setting of the stone was crooked, and they didnât restamp my gold with the karats. It was 14k gold and they didnât restamp that in my band. To say I was furious was an understatement.
We took my ring back to Shane Co to get them to pay for what they did to my ring, and they did not keep the record for when they replaced my center stone. They were being sneaky and didnât want record of that. I had my reciepts for everything else they did though. They also tried to tell me they noted in my profile that it was Cubic Zirconia when they first took it, which was WRONG because the worker on the sales floor I talked to before getting the work done tested it and it was real. He told me they donât take rings that arenât real stones. They added those notes to cover their tracks. After arguing and fighting with them about it for over an hour and getting the other jeweler to prove what they did wrong, they finally admitted to what they did, after threatening a lawsuit. They paid the other jeweler the money we needed to get it repaired and have a REAL diamond put in.
I would NEVER trust Shane co with any jewelry ever again!!! They tried to steal from me, were sneaky about the whole thing, and were trying to take advantage of me. Not sure if this was just a sneaky repair guy, or the whole company itself, but they are not to be trusted with anything!!!!
If you got your ring repaired there anytime in February of 2024 or anytime in 2024, I recommend getting it checked by...
Read moreIâm not one to leave reviews honestly but the completely unprofessional experience I had really canât go unmentioned. My fiance and I went ring shopping a few months back and had a GREAT experience. Very helpful and kind staff who helped us design the perfect ring. Fast forward to pay off day for the rings, everything went to hell in a hand basket. We went in person and brought our own center stone to have set in the ring after paying off the rings we set on layaway. We were taken to the back floor to have our diamond evaluated, documented, and discuss setting costs. While trying to read the small number inscribed on our diamond not one but TWO staff members dropped our diamond a total of SIX TIMES. By that time I got fed up and asked if the number they were trying to read would be on my IGI certificate to which they said yes. To stop the game of football that was essentially being played with our diamond I said just take it off this then, Iâve had it verified at another jeweler so Iâm co didnât that it matches. By this point we are pretty angry, we are told the cost to set the diamond okay great. Then all of the sudden another $295 was slapped onto the setting cost for a new crown, which we werenât told we needed until just now. Youâd think when we purchased the rings someone wouldâve mentioned we would need a new crown as well but that was left out. They did know when we purchased the rings the shape of center stone we intended to put in. While I can understand it was necessary you can imagine our shock since this is the first time anyone mentioned needing a new crown on top of what we paid for the rings to begin with which wasnât cheap. The icing on the cake was being told AFTER our diamond was dropped six times that NOW they would do a little overlook of the diamond to see its condition and note any flaws before we signed a paper stating its value and that if itâs damaged in Shane coâs care they would reimburse us what we paid which is great but we paid well under market value for our stone despite its carat size so if any damage had occurred from being dropped six times , whatever Shane co reimbursed us wouldnât have covered a quarter of the cost for a comparable quality and size stone. Again, this was AFTER they dropped it six times. Luckily there was no damage, but it all felt incredibly unprofessional, the staff we had that day felt like they really couldâve cared less about helping us, and did a poor job of explaining about the crown- it was very much just an âoh and youâll need a new crown for this ringâ And another $295 added to the bill all of the sudden. At the end of the day we have our rings but I definitely will not ever buy a ring from Shane co again. To add, of course when we purchased the rings never once did they drop THEIR stones which were handled by staff multiple times, so it just really felt like less care was taken because it wasnât theirs to worry about replacing or...
Read moreSo Iâve always heard very good things about Shane company. My brother bought his wifeâs wedding ring there. So I bought my wifeâs wedding and engagement rings there about eight years ago. A couple of months ago my wife looked down and saw that the center 1.01 karat diamond had fallen out! We have both been really stressed about this. I had heard that they will replace the center diamond, including all of the other small diamonds if they ever fall out, but I didnât ever think that it would happen to us. We all deal with different companies on a daily basis and Iâm sure like many of you, I have become very skeptical of peopleâs warranties and how I will be treated by their company when something happens. I was expecting the runaround and having to pay out-of-pocket, and also having to wait months to get this taken care of. Shane companyâs warranty is absolutely free. You just need to buy your jewelry from them and they will clean it for free when you take it in every six months, as well as replaced diamonds that fall out. Well, we had to put this to the test. We just took her rings in a few days ago, and I cannot be more pleased with how we were treated! Not only are they replacing the center Diamond, they found one that is the exact same size at 1.01 karat weight, but they upgraded the color and clarity by two notches on each one of those. So she is now getting a replacement pear shaped/teardrop shaped diamond that is both two notches clearer, and two notches more colorless. There are also a couple other tiny diamonds that had fallen out of her engagement band and a couple on her wedding ring as well, and they are going to completely take care of us without charging us a thing! In fact, it was so painless, we were there for maybe just a few minutes as they looked things over, brought out the new diamond and let us look at it, and we were on our way as they told us they would be taking care of everything! And we have an appointment to go pack and pick it up in just one week. I would absolutely recommend the Shane company to my children, my parents, my friends, everyone! I am still in shock that they are actually doing this. My wife is getting a wedding ring that is even more brilliant and more perfect than the one I got her eight years ago in the exact same setting, just a better diamond. Absolutely fantastic and I couldnât rave enough about how amazing they are and how we were treated so well. I would give them a 100 star review out of five stars if I could. I am still very much in shock that we are being treated so well and that they are honoring their warranty.Thank you, Shane company, I will be going to you for every piece of jewelry that I ever buy! In fact, I did buy a yellow sapphire necklace for my wife for Christmas a couple years ago, and Iâm glad I did. Itâs nice to know that these items are covered. I canât imagine why anyone would want to go anywhere else. Jeremy in Eagle...
