My summary grade for Midway Bakery on Main is: A
Let me start by saying that my very favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Needless to say, we scoured Google Map reviews for what we hoped would be a great bakery for breakfast - we were nicely rewarded.
Since it was our first time, we over-ordered so that we could try a variety of stuff from the menu for the next time. Please don't judge. So here is what we ordered:
Cinnamon roll Breakfast sandwich Biscuits & gravy 2 coffees
Cinnamon roll - wow - amazing, soft, full of great-tasting cinnamon and for my taste, just the right amount of frosting (IOW, smothered in frosting). Fantastic example of a bakery item - everyone should try one of these.
Breakfast sandwich - egg, bacon & cheese on a biscuit. The biscuit here is the star of the show - great sandwich. Since the biscuit is so large, it almost appears that the ratio of bread to what's inside the sandwich is going to be off. Because the biscuit is so soft and supple, it's a great ratio for the breakfast sandwich. A very nice sandwich to be sure.
Biscuits & gravy - showstopper. This is the best biscuits & gravy I've every had in all of my travels and I travel it quite a bit. To me if the gravy isn't amazing, I've lost. Their gravy here is amazing. Great ratio of sausage to silky amazing gravy. If you only order one thing here please try the biscuits and gravy (with a side of cinnamon roll).
2 coffees - I know this is a bakery and not a coffee shop, so it was a little presumptuous of us to order 2 lattes. They have drip coffee here and that's it. Fair enough.
Since we were visiting friends later that night, we ordered some to-go items:
Cinnamon roll Berry roll Pecan rol Brownie Baguette (salted)
Later that night - we tried the rest of the items. All of them were fabulous and highly recommended except for the baguette.
I've traveled to Paris at least 20 times and I guess I'm a stickler when it comes to bakery baguettes - well, this is really not a baguette. It resembles a soft pretzel in both flavor and texture than a French baguette. I would actually pass on their baguettes.
All in all, this place will become one of our mainstay places to visit at least once or twice a week when we move to the area. Great restaurant, the service is great. Just not so much the...
Read moreCute little bakery and sandwich shop in Midway Utah. PARKING: Its a block off main street so its slightly less crowded than some of the more popular spots allowing for more parking opportunities. Small menu but enough to make a choice you can be happy with. FOOD: we ordered a frosted berry giant roll, a giant gingersnap cookie, sandwiches and soup of the day (chicken noodle) and a loaf of sourdough for the road. The sourdough bread was yummy and the sandwich was good (turkey bacon avocado for me- they say their favorite is the pesto one). It was satisfying for lunch. The gingersnap cookie was my favorite part of the meal. SERVICE: the staff was friendly and moved the line quickly. Our treats were given to us when we ordered and we waited at our table with a buzzer for the sandwiches and soup. We devoured the treats quickly. It felt like it took a bit for the sandwiches to come out, but we were quite hungry so likley a lower patience level and the place was hopping. There were customers in front of us and behind us. If you come to enjoy some time together and not for a fast bite then you'll be fine. Also looking at some of the long lines at other places to eat this one is a great option. We sat outside at one of the 5 long picnic tables. There were also a handful of tables inside. My biggest con was a pesky little fly behind the counter that was hard to keep away from food on display that is served to you. It's September so flies are a challenge anywhere and I can get over it. . They were amazing! AMBIANCE: sweet hometown, home-made, lots of love in the food and and confidence in their offerings. I would come back for a doz gingersnap cookies and to find food in this busy little town during fall...
