Golden China — Restaurant in Mifflin Township

I can't say the food was bad - but it wasn't to my liking. I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein with fried rice and a Shrimp Roll from the lunch special menu - and it came to little over $9 and included a drink OR soup. I took the drink. The diet soda fountain (only one variety of diet) was not working properly - but that was probably a temporary problem. The food was prepared quickly and the restaurant was clean - tables cleared and not sticky. The Lo Mein was OK - just not to my taste. The fried rice was clearly non-fried brown rice with a few veggies - which is probably way healthier than traditional fried rice - thumbs up to Golden China for that - but I didn't like it - (again - could just be me). The Shrimp roll had the greatest potential - it looked fantastic and I was hopeful, but I was disappointed - another item just not to my taste - I think it was the actual shell that I didn't like and it was very hollow on the inside - not enough ingredients. On the way out - I went to use the restroom and although I was the only one in the restaurant - it was locked. They had a sign on the front door discouraging non-patrons from using the restroom and although an employee could have been in there - I felt more likely it was locked to deter use by the public. I will not be returning - but given the mixed reviews - I think it's a matter of personal taste. To me it was not traditional, expected, Chinese flavor - but others do seem to like it - so you might have to give it a try...

We had ordered food delivered. First time ordering from here. NEVER again. It looked alright when we opened the package but when we tasted it, it was cold, old tasting and dry, flavorless. We were very disappointed. The prices were high for what it was anywhere else but thought it could be good. Quality is more important. No quality found at this restaurant! The General Tso's chicken was terrible! Where's the meat? All breading with a super thick, dark sauce that had a bad taste to it. The lomein was dry, mostly noodles and veggies and what appears to be super thin shredded pork on top, not throughout the dish. The white rice was dry, the plain fried rice was old tasting with no flavor. We discarded everything and ordered food elsewhere. High priced, poor quality, disappointment and ended up not eating the horrific food. What a waste of money. We do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Godspeed and bon...

Tonight was the second time trying Golden China. My girlfriend swears by it as she grew up with it. The first time was ok but still left something to be desired. Sorry to say I will not be coming back. I am a General Tso fan, but not from here. For $12.94 ($1 more for fried rice lol) There was absolutely no spice and not even one pepper in the dish. It was so oily the undercooked rice wouldn't even soak it up. It was more like sweet and sour mixed with BBQ. The Spring Rolls for $4 were not crispy and were down right tough. Calling and making a complaint would probably get my money back but honestly I don't want it. I would get the same run around that businesses in denial will give and the response that "We have been around for years with no issues."
