We booked Creekside Event and Conference Center for our daughters wedding ceremony and reception. The venue was beautiful. Having booked almost a year in advance we hammered out all the details. In July we were told that our open bar needed to close at 10pm due to COVID mandates. We did ask the venue representative Greg if we could allow for a "last call" from our DJ atleast 15 minutes before close of bar. He informed me this was fine. Once closer to our event I reiterated with Karlie, Event Coordinator if this was okay and she stated "yes". Jump to the day of the event. Everything was perfect until 9:30pm when the DJ announced "last call". At that point the bartender angrily informed the DJ he could not do that. After the announcement with still 30 minutes until close of bar, the bartender proceeded to tell guests asking for beer that they were "out of beer". After finding this out myself and after several guests had been turned away I asked the groom himself to ask for a beer for which he too was told the same. I did not want to dismiss myself from the wedding celebration so I decided to wait and address this with the venue at a later time as everyone was still enjoying themselves and by the time I found out there was only about 5 more minutes for the bar to stay open. The following Monday I contacted the venue. 11 days later after sending an email stating that I had not heard back I was contacted by the venue Director Harlen Young. From the beginning of the conversation Mr. Young denied the venues part in my concerns including that I had an understanding with the staff for "last call" and that the groom and guests were told they were out of beer after the announcement. He told me that my guests and groom were lying and stated that he had camera footage of guests being served beer after "last call" up to 10:07. He then stated that three employees including himself advised our DJ that there could be no "last call" earlier in the evening. Upon contacting our DJ after my telephone conversation with Mr. Young, my DJ stated that he was never told this until after he announced it. Our DJ has done many prior events at this venue and had never had an issue. We found out later that around 10:00pm many guests noticed cases of beer being removed from behind the bar. This too was denied by Mr. Young as he continually told me he had everything on video. At that point I asked to view the video myself. He stated "I am not going to give you my sign in and password". I told him I was not asking for his password and sign and that I would come and view the video in his presence at his office. He then stated "I am not going to let you do that". If a simple video would have cleared up this dispute then why would he not allow us to view that specific part of the video, or the part where three members of his staff including himself told our DJ no "last call". This would have shown proof that beer may or may not have been served or removed from behind the bar. It would have been very simple gesture on Mr. Young's part as he stated over and over again that he had video footage while at the same time accusing our guests, groom and DJ of lying. We would like to make future clients of Creekside Event and Conference Center aware of the fact that they need to get everything in writing and that if you do have a dispute or issue that Mr. Harlen Young, Director of Events zillion only handle that issue by being rude, condescending and unwilling to admit that he and his staff could have made a mistake. Mr. Young is also one of the worst representatives of good customer service I have ever dealt with. The sad thing is I was wanting no more than acceptance of wrong doing on he and his staffs part and a simple apology. I have rescinded any prior referrals I have made to Creekside and I will not make any future referrals based on Mr. Young's actions. If in doubt of Mr. Young's handling of this matter I recorded our entire phone conversation for which I am willing to share unlikeMr. Young who claims to have video but is...
Read moreIt’s a beautiful space, if they let you get it.
My fiancée and I took a tour of the event center to set a date for our bridal shower.
We took a tour with Mark who seemed to be very open with us about the fact that there technically was a wedding party for the date we were looking at.
However, he told us that this wedding party had not put a down payment on the venue space and had not responded in months.
So he told us that we would give them until the end of the week and if they had not responded then he would open up the space for us on the day that we wanted.
A week went by and this wedding party had not responded and so our proposal for the date we wanted was drafted up and sent over to us.
We were told we had 7 days until this proposal was no longer valid. So my parents and us agreed on this space and spent several days straight calling back and emailing to put the down payment down on this space.
Conveniently, each day of our valid proposal Mark was far too busy to respond back to any of several emails. And every time the event center picked up the phone Mark was in a meeting and never decided to call back.
All of this leading to the final day of our proposal when Mark’s miraculously tight schedule opened up for him to finally respond back letting us know that he decided to rent the space on the day we had our valid proposal for to a wedding party.
Clearly Mark was playing both sides of this arrangement to make sure the event center got the biggest payout possible.
After questioning how he signed the space away despite us having a proposal open and valid, he told us that he never said any of the things I have listed above.
Very curious as to why we had to wait a week for a wedding party who had not put a down payment down for us to even get a proposal, but when we had a proposal and were actively trying daily to give our money to this event center, they decided to give it away to another party and completely disregard the proposal we had with them.
So as I said, it’s a beautiful space but make sure you’ll be the customers willing to shill out the most amount of $$$ for that day or they’ll waste your time just like they did for me and my fiancée and...
Read moreJust looking at the website, Creekside Conference & Event Center looked like the perfect venue for a wedding, especially since we wanted an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. When we toured Creekside, we were so excited about how beautiful the outdoor rotunda area was for the ceremony and how large the reception area was on the third floor. Creekside had so much room inside the venue that we knew it wouldn't be in issue if weather was bad and we needed to move the ceremony inside. Luckily, we had perfect weather for a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The Creekside staff, especially Karlie, was very organized and easy to work with as we planned for the wedding day. Karlie took detailed notes and kept track of all the updates and changes that were made along the way. I created a decoration instructions document for the staff, because I knew I wouldn't be able to help set up the ceremony site or reception area due to time constraints on the wedding day. The staff followed my decoration instructions very well and carried out my plan perfectly. Creekside staff worked very well with my other wedding vendors and gave them instructions on where to set up as they arrived (DJ, photobooth, cake, etc.). Our only complaints about the whole event were that the steaks were cooked more of a medium rare instead of medium and the baked macaroni and cheese entrees did not come with sides (we thought all entrees would come with sides). Other than that, we were very happy with our full experience at Creekside Conference & Event Center. I would 100% recommend this venue for a wedding or other special events. We can't wait to get our wedding photos back because there are so many beautiful photo spots immediately outside of Creekside and back in the wooded trails right behind the venue. It's...
