Resch’s Bakery — Restaurant in Mifflin Township

They make awesome donuts and pastries just like the old store. They also sell bread, rolls and decorated cakes.

They set the place up right to get people’s orders and fulfill them as quickly as possible. You take a number and then there’s a large number of people to mark down your list of items.

That list gets handed off to people in back who assemble your order and bring it to the cash registers near the display counters. They use your number to match the order slip.

Even with over fifty customers, we were in and out in twenty minutes including making our selection. And the staff are all friendly and helpful throughout the process.

The donuts are very good but where they really shine are the fruit turnovers and danishes. They may cost a little more but are very worth it. You get generous amounts of filling in each item and they are just the right amount of sweet and tart.

The place is very family friendly and handicap friendly. There’s no steps and plenty of room for all to move around and browse. The only difficulty might be getting close to the display cases with the crowd.

I’m not sure of they have any vegan friendly offerings as there’s clearly a fair bit of butter used. It’s best to ask.

The only concern is that I didn’t see any public restrooms. That likely won’t be an issue in most cases given how quickly they move...

I had the most awful experience at this place. Went in at 2pm on a Friday afternoon. Waited 15 mins to be helped. The lady who was helping me had absolutely no clue what was in stock and not in stock- didn’t even know if the items in the display cases were all the same or different. She couldn’t tell me what anything in the display was and there was absolutely no menu to be found anywhere. I just had to point at something in the display case and ask for how many I wanted. Then she just completely messed up my order. When I went to pay I couldn’t even see into the box to make sure my order was correct- got home and nothing was right. Went back to get the right items that I ordered and they tried to make me pay again- they wouldn’t take back the wrong things that they gave me! This place was a complete mess and nothing like the experience I’ve had for years in the old location. I may never go to this place again or it will be a very long time until I do. They need better systems and training of their poorly...

It's definitely better to be a regular 😅 I went for the 1st time today and found the checkout process confusing. Approached the counter late (after I realized what the process was 🥲) and employees just worked around me and didn't acknowledge me at all. When I got someone's attention, I did get help a few minutes later; but I just felt like I was made to feel like such a nuisance lol. I got 2 items, and one was covered in an icing that wasn't shown on the same item in the display case? As for the food itself, which I waited until the evening to savor; it smelled and tasted...off. I couldn't finish it. The food combined with the service means I'll probably try this place again in a few years since I'm a fairly gluttonous gal. For the time being, I'd personally rather make the occasional drive out to Schulers than drive 20 minutes to come here. Hopefully next time, the service and the food will...
